A decent drink this, and 1.95 in my local pub. I think we have a new drink for my on match days. Slight caramel and chocolate in there but quite subtle. Pretty much black and pretty much tasty. Good work.

Pours almost totally black with a short lived off-white head. Aroma is roasty notes with coffee with hints of fruits. Taste is also coffee with roasted malt and alcohol leading to a sweetish roasty finish with light hop notes. Not bad.

Bottle at home (bought in Manc). Prune juice brown with a thin tan head. Much better than I expected. Roasty/smokey notes with some caramel and not too overpoweringly sweet. Quite refined for Holts.

A dark cola brown coloured beer with a thick off white head. A light burnt sugar, caramel dark malt aroma with hints of raisiny dried fruit. A dry mouthfeel. A bitter taste, full of caramel malt elements, fruity, raisiny, all a little but like a rich fruit cake! The richness carries on into a slightly sweet finish.

Saboreada en Mayo´11. Copa Oversized. Enjoyed on May´11. Oversized glass.Pours dark brown in color. Beige creamy foam. Quite well retention leaving watery lacing rings. Toasted malts & forest berries undernotes on nose. Sligthly sweet flavor, mildy hints of coffee & smooth bitterness tasting up to the aftertaste.Hops almost imperceptible. Low carbonation but fat sensation mouthfeel. Not overhelming alcohol feeling makes it drinkable. A little dissapointing overall.

Bottle, bought at OP, 28. 11. 2013. Dark body with one finger baige foam with high visible carbonation. Aroma is clean but light malty sweetness, hints of roastiness and coffee. Taste is malty with balanced roasty characters, chocolate tones, dark sugar, light biterness. Body is light with soft, low carbonation.

Pint bottle poured into a large chalice. Dark ruby with beige head. Coffee and prune aroma. Really rounded toffee and dried fruit flavour, with the fruit predominant. A bit of orangey citrus marmalade reveals itself. Full bodied, slightly sticky flat carbonation. There are many of them, but tthis is a lovely "fruitcake" beer

Quite a rare beer, I had it during it's first cask outing for years in 1994 and again a few years back and it hasn't changed much. Rich red/brown beer, some alcohol escaping and caramel malt. Too sweet but some redeeming roastiness and bitterness. The alcohol is very prominent, spoiling the mouthfeel. (cask in Crown & Anchor, Manchester)
