A decent drink this, and 1.95 in my local pub. I think we have a new drink for my on match days. Slight caramel and chocolate in there but quite subtle. Pretty much black and pretty much tasty. Good work.

Bottle at home (bought in Manc). Prune juice brown with a thin tan head. Much better than I expected. Roasty/smokey notes with some caramel and not too overpoweringly sweet. Quite refined for Holts.

Very dark with a tiny red glow and next to no head. It has a smooth texture with plenty of sweet winter fruits but some roasted malts are evident too, although not dominant.

Bottle - dark brown colour with thick creamy light beige coloured head. Aroma of light roast malts, chocolate, brown sugar, wine. Nice well balanced mix of flavours, roasted and sweet malts, dark fruit, chocolate, touch of alcohol, some nice late bitterness. Medium bodied, some liveliness on the tongue. Enjoyable.

Pours almost totally black with a short lived off-white head. Aroma is roasty notes with coffee with hints of fruits. Taste is also coffee with roasted malt and alcohol leading to a sweetish roasty finish with light hop notes. Not bad.

50cl bottle at the Ape and Apple, Manchester. Very dark reddish brown, close to black, with an off-white to beige head. Lightly roasty aroma with dark fruits and caramel. Sweet and fruity with a nice malt flavour and a pleasant bitterness in the finish. Well balanced. Medium body. Nice and flavourful. (2013-01-26)
