"Our head brewer Keith has based this unique strong beer on an original and traditional English Ale recipe. This is a delicious and refreshing russett red ale with the light citrus flavours of challenger cone hops and rich undertones of dark crystal malt."

Bottle, Asda, Liscard. Darkish amber pour with a small off white head. Sweet malty nose with some vague fruit. Similar themes continued on into the flavour. Mid range bitter finish. Unremarkable on the whole, but solid enough fayre and much better than anticipated. Just think, if you drank 15 pints of this you’d most likely have a thunder chunder....

Bottle. Pours ruby red with a small but fluffy cream head. The aroma is biscuit, caramel and malt. Quite sweet on the palate. Taste is initial fruit and nut quickly replaced by sweet burnt sugar. Caramel and butterscotch flavours are also present with a watery maple syrup aftertaste.

[500ml bottle, Booth’s Preston] Pale reddish-brown pour with a voluminous fluffy head that reduces very quickly. Sweet, nutty aroma of malt, with a malty sweet palate. At the end of the aftertaste there’s a bitter, almost fruity edge. A very drinkable nutty bitter [18022008]

UPDATED: APR 29, 2011 Bottle from Booth’s, Ilkley. Ruby with beige collar. Surprisingly pleasant butter biscuit scraped with rust aroma. Fern waved in gravy taste, sucked through a rusty copper pipe. The spoiling bitterness of metal. About as citrussy as licking a 2 pence piece. Crap.
