3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Charleston Beer Works, Charleston. Clean, bright, effervescent golden pour. Soft nose of understated hops, some grain, maybe even a touch of lemon. Buoyant mouthfeel, very lively on the palate. Taste is just average, though, with not enough of the grassy, peppery qualities I savor in the style.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The fact I just rated a pilsner a 4 should say it all. Not a German beer fan, by and large, but if I were sitting in a pils-only bar this would be my current choice. Crisp, clean, and more hops than I would expect. Refreshing in a balanced way. Could be the quintessential Charleston beer. Had it on tap at the source.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Charleston Beer Works. Pours a pale, clear gold color with a finger of bone white head. The aroma is really faint- grassy hops, crackers, bready malts, straw. Flavor of grassy and mild citrus hops, pale malts, straw, and mellow floral notes. Light body, medium carbonation, dry mouthfeel with surprising bitterness for the style. Not bad.
