Bottle, shared by a kind soul, in a location remote of my dining room.
Pours a dark reddish brown with a small head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is rich and roasty, nicely malty in a nutty way with a light coca character.

The flavor is a little sweeter than I’d prefer it’s got a nice level of roasty bitterness, some chocolate, some nuttiness. It’s a touch off balance but it s got some nice things going on.

On tap, poured into a sampler glass. Coffee and chocolate covered raisin aromas jump from the dark, opaque, raisin colored beer that’s topped by a dense, off white head that keeps a medium ring and a light lace. The taste is a medium, balanced bittersweet. The fuzzy beer is thin and light with a medium rich body containing fig and coffee flavors. The finish has a brief jolly rancher sweetness and a gritty coffee bitterness. The aftertaste is smokey coffee and clove.

Can. To be honest this beer is not good. Decent nutty aroma. Flavor is sort of dirty, tangy, and nutty. Maybe this would pass for a brown ale but not like anyporter i have had.

On tap at the brewery, pours a murky brown with some creamy beige head. Nose has a lot of vanilla, root beer, cakey, some chewy chocolate candies. Flavor is sweet, cakey, chocolatey, vanilla, molasses. Sweet finish.

Pours almost jet black. Normal head volume, fair retention and poor lacing. Very light nose of roast and dark chocolate. Heavy light body that falls slightly short of smooth. Normal carbonation with just a bit of effervescence in the finish. The flavor profile lacks intensity, is complex and very well balanced. It begins with light notes of roast and chocolate over an unusual citrus element that is rather tasty. A subtle caramel sweetness emerges in the middle that flows into an equally subtle roast bitterness. The finish is slightly citric with notes of chocolate. A laid back porter that is a light version of the style and is a suitable candidate for style introduction.

Pours a brownish-black color with a medium foamy beige head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Light to medium body with a roasty malt and coffee character and notes of sweet chocolate in the background. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
