Not bad. Has a nose that of Coca-Cola and present caramel flavor. Rather milk stout in sweetness which should complement desserts. Not much heaslast but for style ok. Hoppiness is present but expect it on the finish.

Twelve ounce can from Village Maket (Harris Teeter’s yuppie division), Johns Island, South Carolina, purchased as part of a mixed 6 pack and tasted on July 17,2016. Very dark brown color, strong aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee, slick texture, slight astringency, taste like aroma though not nearly as strong and with some artificial character. Drinkable but too bad the taste doesn’t live up to the aroma’s promise.

Bottle, thanks to Misterburd. Pours inky black with spongy beige head, coffee beans aroma, low carbonation, sweetish mocha taste, somewhat thick body, long mocha finish. Very smooth and mellow, satifying.

12 oz. can. Deep brown. Medium khaki head. Smells of toasty bread and some coffee. Tastes of coffee, a little bit of hops, sharp bitterness. Toasty malts. A little nutty in the finish. Medium body. Not bad.

Can from Sam’s in Lexington. Pour a dark brown color with ruby highlights and a long lasting brown head. Nice aroma of malt and dry, baking chocolate. The flavor is dark malt and some light coffee and chocolate. Okay.

Great aroma of dark cocoa and coffee. However, taste is rather average for a porter. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery. Strong bitter aftertaste. Disappointing after the great aroma. Can.

Poured from can. Aroma of coffee, wood, molasses. Appearance is porter black, tiny head. Tasting caramel, cocoa, cola, molasses, honey, toasted malt, hint of licorice. Palate is silky, as advertised. Overall, a fine porter.

Dark brown coloured body with a bit of a clear brown glow and a decent, two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of earth, light nuts, malt, peanut butter and a bit of caramel and unfinished sugars. Medium-bodied; Malty flavour at first with a hint of peanuts, some light earth and some cardboardie flavours that finish with some definite breadiness and touches of yeast. Aftertaste has more of the same with the malt hitting first, then some subdued earth notes and finally a bit of unfinished sugars and yeast. Overall, a decent beer - showing some good qualities, but overall, about average. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Charleston Beer Exchange in Charleston, South Carolina on 19-April-2015 for US$1,79 sampled at home in Washington on 05-May-2016.
