Pours a deep opaque brown, like dark chocolate, with a nice tan head. Smoky aroma is strongly of fine roast coffee and has a hint of pomegranate. Mouth-filling flavor has tones of coffee and unsweetened chocolate as well as a pomegranate hint. Mouthfeel is lively and tingly, and finish is pleasingly smooth.

UNDERRATED. Bottle courtesy of mgumby10. Pours black with an amber tint around the edges and a fizzy brown head that quickly dissapates, but maintains some carbonation. Smells of toasted malts, dark cocoa and cherry cough syrup. Builds in flavor with the cherry turning to a sweeter pomengranate taste. Starts dry with a bit of smoke, but finishes a little sticky. This is the MACK!

Coffee notes hit the nose and palate. Thick molasses mouth feel. Heavy ale, but very tasty. Rated 4/9/10

On tap in Plantation, FL. This is nice. Very nice actually. No real hint of the pomegranate, just a nice chocolate and coffee scented beer with some of the same flavors on the palate. Pours very dark with a very small head. Good amount of hops. Well done.

Iím baffled. It didnít really seem like the best idea. This black ale has a small head. It has lots of roasted coffee in the aroma and a bit of tangy pom. The acidity of the pomegranate compliments the roasted malt flavors PERFECTLY. Seriously fantastic tasting. I need more.

Bottle pours black with thin tan head. Aroma is coffee, cherry, roasty, and sweetness. Has a heavy mouthfeel to it. Taste is rich, smooth coffee and chocolate, subtle fruit notes, and has a creamy finish to it. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. Its a very good beer and I think is highly overrated.

very dark with a red hue and a thick brown head. big coffee and toffee nose and i like it a lot. fruitiness covers up the buttery coffee. this is how butter should be in beer. compl;iments. very easy to drink. a bit of metal in there. pom is hinted at in the finish, pretty cool. 5 10 7 3 16

Appearance: Onyx black body with a thin, thought creamy-looking, light tan head. Smell: Aroma smelling of espresso and succulent fruit with secondary notes of semisweet chocolate and toffee. Taste: Dark, roasty maltiness with sweet tastes of chocolate and toffee candy. Moderate sweetness. Underlying fruitiness like a splash of both subtly tart POM Juice and prune liqueur. Tiny bit of aniseed. Very mild hop character and bitterness, leaving the punchy roastiness to counter the sweetness. Still though, this one finishes a bit sweetish and definitely fruity. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. Drinkability: Smooth and fruity (without being too fruity) thanks to the addition of health-inducing pomegranate juice.

Thanks to Daknole. Pours dark, dark brown with hints of red color. Head is light brown, mostly diminishing. The aroma is coffee, a roasted sweetness, smells great! The taste is coffe, a roasted nutty taste, a little bitter but a hint of sweetness. A damn good beer Thanks again Daknole!

2009. 12oz bottle. almost opaque black with no bubbles under a large fizzy brown head. sweet lactic chocolate aroma with sugared coffee. very nice creamy milky palate. flavors of roasted barley, milk chocolate, a hint of fruity pomegranite(hard cherry candy), and sugary lactose. creative and tasty.
