Thanks Santa. Black body, thin tan head. Nose is lots of rasty malt, some cocoa, an odd slightly plasticy (fruity) aspect. Flavor is sweet berry, lots of roast, a strange burnt aspect. Just odd from the pomegranate. Its overly bitter.. Strange stuff.

Bottle. Rich dark purplish black colored body, 1/2-1 inch deep fudge brown colored head but it dies quickly and leaves a small film above a purple-tinted top layer. Rich red wine and dry oak in the nose but muddled by a moderately strong lactic note - burnt milk, yeast-heavy plum skins, etc. Surprisingly fruity flavor. Dry, tannic, lactic, rough and astringent. Reminds me of syrah but at the same time it is messy and flabby on the tongue. Imperial stout rating 200.

Pitch black coloured body with a dense, frothy, milky tan head. Aroma of pungent roasted malt, odd peat, a touch of juice and a little odd fruity notes - crazy smell, given the style and the appearance! Medium to Full-bodied; Odd cherry, plumy, fruity taste at first with a lot of roasted malt, some coffee and a touch of nuts/oatmeal at end. Aftertaste is odd - some fruit tucks in with the malt and stronger, bitter notes and makes for an imbalance and lactic twang gone awry. Overall, an interesting beer that isnít really pulled together. Separately (as a fruit beer and an imperial stout) this might work, but this beer together just flows oddly and shows a very odd level of complexity that isnít too nice. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in St. Petersburg, Florida on 13-November-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 23-January-2011.

From bottle. Poured deep black with fizzy head. Aroma was all chocolate, dark roasted malt and coffee. Taste followed but the mouthfeel was horrible. Fizzed up like soda water as I drank.

pours black with a thin mocha head...poor retention. aroma is red winey...prob. due to the pomegranate. also has light roastiness and chocolate and a bit of an alcohol smell. flavor is fruity..pomegranate...upfront with some light chocolate and a faint chalky sourness. mouthfeel is lightly creamy and the finish lingers with roasty dark fruit. interesting but a little too winey for me.

Okay, so I thought this beer was going to be a lot better. It pours dark with a short lasting off purple head (Probably from pomegranate). The chocolate to me was almost overwhelming tasting very little of the pomegranate. Not a terrible beer, but definitely not one of my favorites.

In short: A modest and soft imperial stout with a not-so-great pomegranate/red apples fruity character. Just ok.
How: Bottle 12oz. Many sources. This bottle from WeeHeavySD. Probably almost one year of age when I drank it.
The look: Black body topped by a dark beige ring of foam.
In long: Nose is lightly roasted, with some black chocolate and red apples. Taste is rather boring. Relative to the style the body is slim. Carbonation is soft, a bit too soft. Taste has some old black coffee, some roastiness, some molasses, some dark fruits and McIntosh red apples (!?). It could have a been a very average Imperial Stout but the addition of pomegranate juice moves it below average. Fortunately the pomegranate thing is not overdone, almost subtle, but even a little of it is too much for me. Pomegranate is as essential to make a good stout as a curry spices are to make a good yogurt.

2008 bottle. Pours black with a small bubbly tan head. Aroma of burnt malt and sweet pomegranate, which just didnít mesh together for me. Very odd smelling and not in a good way. Flavor is still burnt with roasted malt and parmesean cheese and a sweet pomegranate finish. Meh, this is very underwhelming. The flavors are just bad. Why would you add pomegranate juice to an imperial stout? It was difficult to take even more than a few sips of this nasty beverage. 5/4/5/2/12 (2.8/5)

Why does the bottle say malt beverage? I can tell you that didnít really drive me to want to drink it. I must be missing something, either that or i should have waited when it was a bit colder to drink this baby. A little too sweet for my taste. Dark muddy black, nothing to see here- medium sized creamy tan head. Aroma was sweet with chocolate, pomme.Taste was sort of annoying with the sweetness. a bitunbalanced in my opinion. Anway, thanks kayla!

Black with a fine layer of film. Aroma of roasted malt, fruit, Belgian yeast and a bit vinous. Thin for an Imperial stout, slightly oily lightly coating the mouth. Pomegranate is a bit overwhelming in my opinion. Belgian yeast adds to the insanity. Overall not something I like very much.
