From WBF in Raleigh. The idea for this beer sound admittedly not so attractive... chocolate barley, Belgian yeast, and pomegranate juice??? Very dark pour with tan head. Roasty chocolate and coffee. Some sweetness from the fruit, I guess. Pretty good. Only had a small pour and think I need more to make a full assessment, but definitely better than it sounded on paper.

Jul 26, 2008 Bottle thanks to bitbucket. Black pour with no head. Aroma of capuccino, chocolate, maybe licorice. Flavor is similar, roasted at first, but then sweeter malt and the pomegranite juice take over. The juice sort of balances the roast. I think i like it, but i am not sure.

Jul 23, 2008 Bottle: Courtesy of major0429, pours a dark onyx color with no head. Aroma hints at dark malts, dark chocolate, espresso bean, vinous notes and some of the pomegranate...interesting. Medium bodied mouth feel. Flavor was an amalgam of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits along with the pomegranate finish that hits that special spot along the jaw line that makes me pucker. Much different than any other impy that I’ve had...kudos to this brewery for going out on a limb.

Jul 22, 2008 This beer tasted wood-fired. I was happy to try this beer, especially because I’m a fan of the Golden Ale. I would recommend this beer to anyone who likes stouts, porters, or dark beers in general.

Jul 22, 2008 Pours onyx with 1-finger tan head. Nose is heavy roasty dark malt, fig, prune, dark fruit, cacao. Tastes dark malty, pruny, figgy, with notes of cherry, merlot, oaky bourbon, cacao, and a mild tartnedd. Velvety, smooth palate. Outstanding.

does not count  Jul 20, 2008 Pours with faint head that is dark brown, roasted flavor very apparent and finishes with the sweeter side of pomegranate. Hints of chocolate with adequate body. Easy to drink and enjoyable.
