3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz Bottle. The pour was a deep dark black with a large (2-3 finger) medium brown fluffy head that receded slowly, down to a light film with a large collar and had excellent sheets of streaky lacing.
The aroma was bold and powerful with a burnt chocolate malt, a light resin hop and a heavy leathery yeast with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, molasses, vanilla and dark fruit (berries).
The taste was very malty with a nice chocolaty sweetness and a note of coffee from the onset with a mild bitterness settling in along with a hint of molasses and a somewhat strong smoky berry ending. The flavor lingered for a good long time with a wonderful chocolate espresso taste that was left hanging for a while longer.
Mouthfeel was a few steps past medium in body with a smooth and creamy texture and a medium carbonation.
Overall an extremely bold, robust and tasty brew that ended with a mild fruity sweetness that possessed a touch of smoke, which made this an exceptionally fantastic drinking experience...

Would like to try minus the pomegranate. Still very good. Near black pour with deep tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate with a sweet back. Taste is similar, but the sweet is a bit much at the end.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
FROM NOTES: June 29, ’12
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.
A: Strong roast, chocolate, malty notes with a sweetness and dark fruit taste.
A: Pours a dark brown-black with a half finger tan head that leaves absolutely no lacing.
T: Pretty much follows the nose, but the pomegranate flavor comes on strong at the finish.
P: Mild carbonation and medium body.
O: An interesting brew that surprised me with the roasted notes. Personally, I could have done without the pomegranate, but that’s just my personal taste...

Belle dentelle sur corps velouté, des notes de bleuets et de petits fruits se faufilent dans une marre de grains de café dans le chocolat.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark pour. Big tan head. Plenty of lacing. Sweet/sour aroma reminiscent of sour cherries. Some chocolate and coffee mixed in. Coffee and smoke up front. Some sour fruit notes. A slight slick mouthfeel with a sweet finish. Not bad.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted from a 12oz bottle. It poured a deep reddish brown with a light brown, thick, bubbly head. A roasted malt & chocolate aroma and flavor, that is thick and rich.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is fairly fruity but with a well balanced dark malt character. Lots of chocolate and roast with dark fruit esters. The dark fruit is cherry, prune, pomegranate and a hint of cassis.
Pours black with a moderately thick dark mocha head that steadily recedes. Light lacing with medium sized legs.
Flavor is fairly sweet upfront with some fruit and chocolate. The fruit is dark cherry, prunes, plums and a definite pomegranate note. Mod palate the chocolate takes on more of a roast character. Some moderate bitterness in the finish to balance the sweet fruitiness. Hints of alcohol spice are also present in the finish. Some astringency.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium high carbonation. Astringency is medium low with medium alcohol warmth.
Overall a clean beer, but not one I particularly enjoy. The fruit is fairly present making the beer overly sweet which contrasts with the astringency and in my mind makes it seem more astringent. Its similar to a fruity Belgian stout but without the body. It could use some oak or red wine to help balance and round everything out. Less carbonation might help as well.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a black with a dark brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts, dark grains and a touch of coffee with a hint of underlying pomegranate. Flavor is similar with roasted malts and dark grains up front with a bit of tart pomegranate underlying.

12oz bottle from ABC on Button. Black pour with a big pillowy tan head. Sweet aroma - roasty, cocoa, dark fruit. Tastes are coffee, chocolate, little yeasty, syrup, booze, licorice, little juicy. Slick creamy palate. Not necessarily to taste, but lots going on and we’ll constructed.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours an opaque blank from the bottle with bubbly beige head that dissipates to leave decent lacing. Aroma of sweet chocolate and slight pomegranate note. Taste follows, is bubbly, effervescent, and a little thin. No hint of the booze, not bad but nothing that blows me away.
