| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2009 Minimal head from a rather vigorous pour. Dissipates quickly. Fruity aroma with apples, pears and some white grape. Some yeasty notes with a hint of dry spice. Hazy, lifeless dark orange body. Sweet and spicy with more fruit (bananas). Nice warming as it goes down. Little zippyness in the mouth. Almost tripel like in flavor. Finishes clean and dry with some lingering spices on the tongue. An ok belgian brew. Drink a couple of these and you will be feeling no pain. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 28, 2008 I want to support an effort like this. I really do. I recall looking at the ratings a while back and they were generally positive. So, in my desperate search for Saison Athene I pop into a store on Sanibel, and this is the best I see of local stuff. I pick up a 4 pack.
Ugh. Massively sweet and as slimchill says, way underattentuated. Thick, yet carbonated. Are there actually Saaz here? If so they are not to be found. I went in really hoping for a dryer beer.
What will I do with the remaining 3. Perhaps my wife will like them... slimchill (777), Austin, Texas, USA
