Draught @ La Cerveteca, Barcelona, Spain

Pours dark orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of ripe fruits, caramely malts and grassy hops. Taste is smooth, sweetish and caramely with some ripe fruity and yeasty notes. Finish is smooth, sweet and malty with some hoppiness. Okay malty IPA.

500 ml bottle (134 IBU), enjoyed at Barcelona.
Pours a dark golden amber colour with a large foamy head. Aroma of grassy hops, gooseberry bush, passion fruit and biscuit. Flavour is rather musty with biscuity malts, flour, very bitter grassy hops, gooseberries and strong resiny notes as well. Very mild, almost unnoticeable tartness. Medium bodied and rather hard carbonation. Finishes very bitter, resiny and dry. Not at it’s best anymore I think, as this was bottled 8 months ago. Still, I bought it because of the name.

Location: Draft at George & Dragon, 4/4/13

Aroma: The nose has some dank hops (not juicy at all), plenty of resin/pine, and some bready malts
Appearance: It pours a darker caramel color with a lasting off-white head and some drippy lace spots
Flavor: Flavor-wise, this one is fairly heavily bitter/hoppy, and it isn’t really very sweet at all
Palate: The body is medium, it has a fairly smooth feel, soft carbonation, and a heavily dry finish
Overall Impression: I may have enjoyed this one more because I’ve been drinking too much watery Spanish Lager this week, but I liked this one. The hops are definitely more bitter than flavorful, and it could probably benefit from something to balance the bitterness, but damn, this one was needed.

Nice hoppy locally brewed IPA. It is best tried on draught, although the bottled version is better than most bottled IPA’s. Great name too.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2012 23/11 0.5 l bottle @ L’Espumossa, Barcelona, recommended by the waitress. 5.9% ABV, 114 IBU. It poured hazy copper body with medium sized head. Fruity, elderflower aroma with touch of caramel malts. Flavor was bitter, herbal hoppy with elegant caramel malts that created very pleasant sweet note. Medium bodied with very nice and long finish, only sweet at the aftertaste. Very nice brew, although using more quality hops for aroma would make it really awesome. Good recommendation, thanks!
