@ Great Alaskan Barleywine Festival ’06. 2005 vintage. Ok nose, sweet. Coffee, soy, grapefruit. Dark brown color. No head. Bitter flavor, Like aroma, but much more intense. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bittersweet finish. Really liked the flavor, which made the nose more disappointing. Drinkable BW.

Draft@ the 2009 Great Alaska Beer and Barleywine Festival. 2005 batch. Clear amber with a wispy head. Nice sweet caramel sherry wine aromas. Rich, chewy mouthfeel. Ultra smooth aged flavors of sharp caramel, port wine with a spicy alcohol kick to finish. Sweeeeeeet.........

19-Jan-08 (Draft: Connoisseur’s Session, 2008 Great Alaskan Beer and Barley Wine Festival in Anchorage, AK) 2005 release. This has an interesting fruity flavor, lots of prunes and dark fruits, and the beer is sweet but not cloying. Earthy, rich malts complement the beer beautifully, with just a light touch of roast. Fruity, spicy, earthy, malty nose is enchanting; I could sniff this beer all night, but there are more beers to try in the waning minutes of this festival. Full-bodied and medium in carbonation with a soft, lush mouthfeel. Medium-brown and fairly clear in appearance. The light-tan head settles to a wide ring. Overall, this is one of the better barley wines at this festival, and there is a lot of stiff competition. Solid!

On tap at the 2004 Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival. Murky dark brown with a foamy tan head. Lots of alcohol, grapefruit rind and malty sweet. It tastes like it has all the right parts for a great barely wine but they don't seem to be in the right places. Still a good beer.
