jjpm74 (2811), Connecticut, USA Oct 23, 2007 Pours a yellow clear with subtle fizzy hints but no head to speak of. Smells of honey. Tastes of honey with a thin mouthfeel. Wish I could say more about this one, but it just doesn’t have much to offer. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jan 17, 2007 750 ml crown-capped (!!) bottle from City Market in Burlington, VT (yesterday), consumed at fridged temperature from a White Winter Winery glass. A bit of hiss when the cap is popped....small fizzy immediately dying head atop the lightly oily, clear faint yellow-gold body, minimal legs....quite beautiful, voluptuous honey-apple aroma, sweet and rich and full of caramel and oak, faint alcohol, luscious....on the tongue, light carbonation and fizziness seem to enhance the low-key honey-apple flavors, moderately sweet at first and drying out quickly, with light herbal notes (rosemary, thyme) adding a bit of depth, the subtle farmy yeasty qualities after midpalate really help define this as an artisanal piece of funkiness, but the light sweetness and moderate alcohol make it oh so drinkable....certainly not among the very best meads I’ve had, but this manages to be both interesting and extremely quaffable even, dare I say it, chuggable, and that makes it pretty damn special. Nice label, too, and nice to see something like this from the alcoholically-conservative state of Vermont. Well done!
