COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This mead is somewhat of a shock to the senses. African Birds Eye Chili or Habanero Chili lends an interesting wooded nose to the mead, which is entirely overwhelmed by the first sip, which clears the sinuses in a way similar to that of eating half a cup of Wassabi with a sushi roll. This mead is best served as an ice breaker at dinner parties, especially if the food will be hot. It is also quite amusing later on in a dinner party to circulate a bottle of Chili mead when some of the guests become competitive.

Really good. Clear gold. The honey is really accentuated nicely. Somewhat hot. Drank with some rather hot curry I made....the curry was horrible, this mead made it better. Strong spice at the end.

Bottle @ Home, courtesy of Henriksoegaard. Pours clear light golden. Aroma of honey, spice, light chili. Flavor is honey, strong burning chili. Medium body, oily, hot lingering chili finish. Not very nice, to hot and unbalanced. 010113

Blond color. Strong aroma of pipe tobacco, and nothing else; this can’t be interesting. It’s not even possible to get the sweetness: immediately there is a hot chili flavor (chili extract?), with a quite strong chili feeling, and some tobacco leaves.
No other flavor to talk about. Useless, worthless.

750 ml bottle from Randall’s. Pours a clear peach-gold color with no head or visible carbonation. The aroma is a clumsy mish-mash of chili and honey, without either coming through clearly; apple and grape fruits in there. The flavor is the same, but it works better because the honey and chili notes can be picked out and appreciated. Finishes with lingering chili. Medium-bodied, with a smooth mouthfeel that starts cidery and finishes hot. Low carbonation. Weird mead.

Unpleasent mead with too much chili. Dark golden coloured and clear. No head. Aroma has some sweet notes, some chili too. Flavor is way too hot, hurts. Bad texture.
