2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 larsga (4684) - Oslo, - JUN 21, 2011
Small white head. Yellow body. Fruity grassy aroma with citric oily notes. Dry-sweet grassy oily smoky (WTF?) taste with fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Faintly harsh mouthfeel. Dry grassy fruity smoky aftertaste with plastic notes. Not really a success. Weird. (0.33l bottle shared by hcalsos.)

Tried at a super upscale drinkery on the top of one of those Hong Kong Towers, poured quite chilled. Nice aroma of fruitiness on the nose, and malty sweetness. Charming orange-bright brown body with no head, even when poured by an expert waitress - thusly it should be poured headless, one would assume. Taste is a pleasant mix of sweet malts with some fruity touches. Okay mouthfeel. This is a decent beer, worth seeking out if you’re in the city.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2012 Bottle in HK with Galligan. Fuller amber colour than usual for Chinese beer, some hops in the aroma, body is reasonably crisp with a decent if brief bitter finish. Nothing special but a lot better than most beers out this way.

Bottle.Very kindly bought back from Hong Kong by my son Adam and his girlfriend Sam. Clear and bronze with a small head. Dry at first with a gentle sweet finnish. Medium body, well balanced and easy to drink.
2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 jgb9348 (3497) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 21, 2010
Super clear golden coloured body with a thinnish white head that leaves a pretty ugly lace on the side of the glass. Aroma of nice fresh malt, lemons, a touch of low a.a. hops, some raisins and a hint of coriander seed. Light-bodied; Sharp assertive hoppy taste up front with a mellow maltiness and a deep pungent grassy and barnyard flavour soon afterwards with a grassy bite at the end. Afterwards fairly bitter on the palate with the grass and bitter caramel coming through. Overall, a pretty bad beer, but when there aren’t many alternatives, this one was neat to try. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased at City/Super! Supermarket in the best city in the world: Hong Kong (off the Causeway Bay MTR stop), China on 26-August-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 21-January-2010.

Bottle and draft @ brewpub. Clear warm gold, effervescent but little head retention. Really nice clean aroma of herbal hop, dry. Pils-like character here with a crisp dry finish. Leafy, with a good hoppy finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10196) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 25, 2009
Golden and sparkly. Fairly malty aroma with some fresh grain notes. The nasal hops are light, fruity and spicy. Fairly spicy palate, but fades into biscuity malts.

Bottle @ the Inn Side Out - Hong Kong. Right away I was surprised how much more backbone this brew has compared to the piss poor local offerings. Doughy malts coupled with grassy hops. Finished bitter, a nice brew.

Bottle in HK (orange and blue label). I must have had a skunked bottle or something. This was dreadful: artificial grain alcohol taste with corn, rice, and a chemical-like bite. Very bad.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Avatar (82) - Gliwice, POLAND - FEB 10, 2009
Bottle in Hong Kong, from department store. Quite nicely hoppy and malty as for lager, not to strong though. Little bit sweet, not splendid, but refreshing and drinkable.
