COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aggressively dry-hopped, West Coast-style India Pale Ale with a freshness and balance that can only be found in a locally brewed beer. Its robust flavors sit on a rich base of malt, complimented by bracing bitterness, and the fragrant citrus, tropical fruit and pine aromas of some of our favorite American and Australian hops.

At the roundhouse taproom (tap). Not hoppy enough, dull and a bit thin. Fruity and a little bit caramel.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

330ml bottle served in an ordinary glass. Enjoyed in Hong Kong. Pours a slightly hazy orange color forming a medium light white head with medium to low retention and only few spotty lacing left in the glass. Nose is nice. Refreshing. Strong citrus notes. Pale and caramel malts. Notes of pine, resin and tropical fruits. Passion fruit and grapefruit. Taste follows the nose: Citrus, pine, resin, caramel malts, pale malts. Quite bitter. Earth notes. Dry finish. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Resin and grapefruit in the aftertaste. Good drinkability. Nice Hong Kong IPA. Deserve a better qualification.

7%ABV.  IPA. Poured out of the bottle a clear deep amber.  18ºSRM. Nose is malty and alcholic.  There are roasty, sweet malty flavors.  There is an aroma of roasting chestnuts.  Quite nice.  Some wet yeasty aromas linger.  Coming back I get some nice sweet medicinal aromas of licorice. Mouthfeel is soapy and alcoholic.  After the gravitas of the fumes start to fade, you get some nice graham cracker, caramel and cracked barley.   Some nice nutty flavors with sugar sweetness, reminiscent of French burnt peanuts or Jordan almonds. Not much in the way of hop character. Finish is brief and again, not very interesting.

Draft. Pours a hazy reddish color. Aroma and taste are sweet and malty, doesn’t taste like an IPA at all.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2015 Better than expected after trying the Sevens Stout that was garbage. Appearance isn’t the best: hazy rotten dirty golden with thin white head. Aroma is floral and fruity. It tastes fruity as well, and can feel some hops. Bad water used indeed. Not too bad.

330ml bottle in HK. Clear light Amber pour with white head. Aroma is malts, grain and weak citrus. Taste is somewhat similar. Hops/citrus comes at the end with a very dry finish.

Bottle in Hongkong. Floral nose. The beer starts fresh and smooth. Not too complex, but nice hints of fresh hops. Moderate bitter, fresh floral, hints of citrus. Quite dry for the high ABV. Fresh and smooth but not too deep.

Nice crisp, very slightly hazy copper and bronzed coloured body with a single centimetre tall just off-white head and literally no carbonation when opened up from the bottle. Aroma of bread, yeast, earth, caramel, nuts and tons of cardboard. Medium-bodied; Very bready flavour with a good deal of yeast, cardboard, alcohol and a bit of pungent cereal flavours, all with some resin. Aftertaste shows the deep pungent malt, caramel and cereal notes that are of course coupled unfortunately with the yeast and bread. Overall, an unfortunately not good IPA that isn’t a very good beer in general with some deep pungent flavours that aren’t very nice, just a touch too deep and way too bready/yeastie. That said, to have an attempt at an IPA that was physically produced in the greatest city in the world is pretty neat - finally some of the British influence wore off on the city - perhaps some American influence can come next alongside all of the American attitudes and stores there. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from City!Super in Harbour City, Kowloon, Hong Kong on 02-July-2014 for HK$21,00 with the standard HK produced label, best before 15 June 2015. I brought this bottle back to the opposite side of the world and even though this wasn’t good at all, i’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Transparent orange-amber with foamy white head that disappears almost completely. Small amount of lacing. Decent carbonation. Aroma is surprisingly malty for an IPA - very sweet and funky/vegetal. Molasses, bread, some citrus/grapefruit. Taste is bitter and lightly grassy at first, becomes sweetly malty, then dissipates. Palate is light-to-medium and relatively oily. Not sure why this is classified as an IPA when the malt is so much more present than the hops. Something about this beer smells and tastes a bit musty and unfresh.
