bottle, picked up at landbierparadies in nuremburg. clear amber with a modest head; richly smoked aroma of dusty kiln; juicy malt profile for a rauchbier with hints of roast vanilla and some salted liquorice in the finish. delicious and unique example of the style

50cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured clear copper color with a white head, some lacing. Aroma is smoked ham and some grain. Flavor is similar, gentle smoke and sweetness and some graininess towards finish. The smoke stays with you. Quite a pleasant smoked beer, enjoyable.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear copper colour, large off-white head. Smoky nose. Medium-bodied, solid malty base with nice smoky flavours, shy, dry hoppy finish. Very nice.

My Bottom Line :
Elegant beechwood smoke adds complexity to the silky honeyed sweetness and levelled peppery hops for a most süffig pint of lager.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A creamy tuft of foam floats atop the translucent golden amber.
-The smoke aroma and flavor is more subtle than Spezial’s, for example. It is a contributor to the flavor profile, not a dominating character. If you expect Schlenkerla, you will be disappointed.
-The lean mouthfeel is well polished; all flavors are cleanly presented.
-Dryness and soft effervescence make for very high drinkability.

Bottle.

Bottle from Landbierparadies. Copper coloured with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of wood smoke, a hint of fatty bacon and some balancing caramel sweetness. Flavour had smokiness upfront before the caramel kicked in again leading to a bitter finish. Very enjoyable.

(bottle) pours a clear copper colour with a quickly-diminishing frothy white head. aroma of honey-glazed ham, pale malts and toasted grain, with a hint of herbal hops and butter. flavour is the same, quite meaty, with a hint of grain and a long-lasting medium bitter caramel and smoke finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Entered to celebrate my # 5000 Rating. Bottle bought at brewery. Pours clear amber with a creamy white lasting head. Vague smoke, caramel, bread and grain. Medium and smooth palate. Balanced and very tasty brew!

Bottle at the brewpub. Nice smoky aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Small tan head. Good smoky flavour, very nice. Seems a litttle salamiy, but very good.
