Thick, cloudy amber in color with some suspended floaties. Malty flavor with bread and sugar, some lingeringlemon flavor as well. This beer is similar to Cottonwood Endo, but not quite as good. Drinkable, and fairly tasty. fakepurseninja (777), Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Nice, textbook, looking IPA. Nice malty backbone with a nice compliment of floral, citrusy hop essence - albeit very small hoppiness. Fresh wood and nut wisps as well. A tad bland but extremely well balanced and put-together IPA. LaMichael (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2005 22oz bottle, picked up at Bottleworks. Murky orange and almost brown hue with a tan head. Smells of sugary sweet hop oils, tinny and pine-like, but also mellow, with an undertone of melon. The texture is very interesting: smooth, almost creamy up front, a little peppy on the back - all the time very fresh and lively. Tastes moderately acidic, slightly milky and creamy, with flavors of pine wood, oranges, kumquats and some perfumy floral notes. Very decent, certainly drinkable, and surprising consider the bad experiences I’ve had with three other Hood Canal beers. BrewDad (2366), Olympia, Washington, USA

A deep amber color with a nice head. This had a great aroma of hops and was awesome to finally smell. It had been weeks since I had a great IPA. Had a deep hop flavor and the malts where subtle and good. This had some great flavors and was a true awesome find. Tad bitter in the finish this was still a good brew. porterdude (170), Bellingham, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2005 Bottle. POured a deep murky coppersih color, with a nice white head. Grassy and malty smell. A really good blend of hops and malts comes through in this beer. A real enjoyable IPA. HoppedHead (106), seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2004 A darkish IPA (had dry hopped version on tap). Nice hoppy aroma and flavor, but nothing special. drismyhero (815), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 13, 2005 I had a dry-hopped version of this IPA a few weeks ago, the tap specifically said "dry-hopped" so it may very well have its own category soon - and judging from these other ratings it should. Strong honey coated hops are the life-blood of this beer. The hops are crisp and forthright as is to be expected with dry-hopping, but Hood Canal does a good job of backing up all those IBUs with ample malt. A good addition to what appears to typically be a mediocre beer.
