German Malt, German Hops, German brewing process. Our German Kölsch is a testament to simplicity, tradition and quality. Using the same malt, hops, and process as a brewery in Cologne, Germany (where Kölsch originates), we strived to replicate the style in every way possible. The beer is has a clean but complex malt base that marries perfectly with the delicate, subtle aromas of southern german noble hops. OG: 11.9

At Capital Brew fest. This was poured into a mini snifter. The appearance was a nice looking yellow color with a decent transparency rising in it. Light lacing clung here and there. The smell had a nice blend of sweet citrus to malty sweetness of a slight sweet corn malt to it. Light spicy effects rail my nose in a nice way. The taste was mainly sweet through more of a lemon sweet and almost bittersweet appeal. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed appropriately styled for the beer. It left a really nice sweet lemon aftertaste. Overall, really nice kolsch I am wishing I could get on a regular basis. Oh well, just gotta make it up to Fairbanks for this.

Draft at the brewery. Hazy yellow with a small white head. Grainy and lemony aroma. Nice clean flavor, dry with pale malt and grassy hops. Medium bitterness. Crisp mouthfeel with lighter body. Decent for the style.

Beer of month club. Pours a hazy straw color with white head that has a lot of lacing as it recedes. Aroma is mostly malt and some grassiness. Taste is sweet malts with a touch if bitterness on the finish. Refreshing, good for a hot day, but nothing that will really be remembered. (Good replacement for macrobrew on summer day.) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very nice and crisp! Very drinkable beer! Didn't really get any fruity taste or aromas! It would be a really good session beer.

American style Kolsch- slight darker and heavier than the classic German variety. The aroma is biscuit and hay with a slight sweetness. The beer pours a crystal clear gold with a bright white, thick head that dissipates quickly. The carbonation is noticeable on the palate. The flavor is clean and refreshing with a nice balance of malt and hops with the slightest tip towards the malt sweetness. Overall, this is certainly not a German Kolsch but is a very drinkable beer that is quite refreshing cold and becomes more complex as it warms. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
