Flavor is roasty, slightly chocolatey but in the end, light. What a brown ale should be, I guess. Dogbrick (2855), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 10, 2009 This beer is a slightly cloudy dark amber-brown color with a medium thin light beige head that recedes steadily. Small strings of lacing. The aroma has a light toasted malt and caramel presence. Medium, smooth body with a sweet character of malt, brown sugar and caramel. Very light hops in the background. The finish is malty and nutty with a short sweet aftertaste. Just average all over. JaBier (1212), Capital City, Ohio, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours a medium/dark brown with a large fizzy/frothy tan head. Roasted malt, nuts, earth and cardboard dominate the nose. Flavor is weak, watery and has way too much of a cardboard weirdness to make this more than a one night stand with me. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 1, 2009 good and tasty brown ale, a bit of roastiness that was not bitter, easy drinking cheapdark (2016), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Darker than expected. Looks like root beer. Aroma of roasty caramel and daffodils. Somewhat mild but does have enough burned bitterpersonality. Decent fizzy carbonation. Taste is rather roasty as with a medium wet campfire coal, but not towards a stout kinda way. Good alternate to a pale lager, not enough over the top to turn me off. You do know however that you are drinken a dark beer. More like an american dark lager than a brown ale. Leathery on the palate with a decent ropey finish. twindadplus2 (411), Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 26, 2009 Deep brown with a small, creamy light brown head. Lightly nutty roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt flavor with a hint of chocolate and hops bitterness at the end. Palate is light and a bit watery at the end. Nothing startling here but a good brown ale. Aromas of caramel and toasted malts. The flavor is slightly more subdued but some caramel and chocolate is present. Light body and sweet.
