jeff789 (360), Pennsylvania, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head that leaves nice lacing.... Smells of sweet dark slightly roasted malts... Tastes of generic unflavored flat cola, what a rip-off, this beer should be called A-Treat brown cola(le).... Horribly disappointing marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Jan 7, 2009 This brown ale poured with a tall tan head and almost no aroma. There is a hearty roasted malt flavor with some slight hop bitterness. A decent brown ale, but nothing to search for. hubcrawler (36), , Virginia, USA Jan 5, 2009 Updated: Jan 8, 2009Poured from a bottle with a medium sized head that leaves rather thick lacing. It is a deep brown with a shade of ruby red when illuminated. The aroma is mild and is of primarily roasted malt with a hint of hops. There is a flavor of roasted malt with some nuttiness, and it has a thin feel. Overall, the beer is very refreshing but not overly complex in any way. bhensonb (4189), Woodland, California, USA Jan 5, 2009 Bottle from Grocery Outlet in Woodland, CA. Dark ruby color with a multifinger beige head. It laces. Aroma of roasted brown malt. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is smooth darker roasted caramel. Light toast. A little bitter. Can tell it’s a brown, but the flavor is much less harsh than most. Seems to finish more astringent than anything else. A decent ale, tastier than very many, and an excellent buy at $.67. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jan 1, 2009 Light brown color with a tall, lasting, beige head. Light aromas of caramel (like kitchen bouquet) and toasted malt. Light caramel and nougat flavors. A bit of dry toasted malt in the finish and linger. Not catching much as far as cascade hops, perhaps a touch of grapefruit pith, but nothing like the normal cascade citrus. Boring at best. bkurtz (276), Peru Dec 27, 2008 Poured a dark brown with an average white head. Typical in style. Light malts adn with some flavor. Not bad at all. ratman197 (3141), Arvada, Colorado, USA Dec 27, 2008 On tap poured a clear dark brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of carmel, butterscotch, toffee, fruittiness and light cocoa. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a watery finish. Flavors of carmel, light cocoa and a hint of nuts with a smooth watery malty finish. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Dec 24, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with dkachur. Pours a clear brown with a moderate-large off-white head that lasted until the very end and left a nice solid layer of foam with each sip. Light aroma of malt and not much else. The flavor is equally bland with again very light malt and not much else going on. Thin, watery mouthfeel, particularly for a brown ale. The body is more like a light beer. While this was not a bad beer, there are plenty of brown ales I would reach for before this one.
