3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gurthnar (641) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - MAY 30, 2013
Bottle from Brewdog Slovensko. Aroma is nice roasted, coffee, chocolate, toffee. Reasonably sized beige head, almost medium duration. Colour is clear and very dark ruby-brown, not close to black though. Taste is roasted, coffee, hints of burnt. I miss some sweet malty balance, it seems plainly bitter. Not bad, but a bit unbalanced from my view. Minus point for that. Also light hint of sourness appears late in the finish. Otherwise good.
2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Karol (114) - SLOVAK REPUBLIC - MAY 19, 2013
Bottled. This stout is for my taste weak. The aroma of dark chocolate is promising. However the taste is low bodied. Weak dark chocolate taste, roasted malt. Probably due to the only 4.8% abv. The finish has a strong presence of alcohol. Drinkable but I prefer imperial stouts such as BrewDog’s Riptide. I have not had a Guiness in a very long time. I need to re-visit it.

Bottle, Black with a small head. Dry with some maltiness. An excellent example of how a bottle conditioned beer should be bottled. A good but not overstated example of this style.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Palme (2311) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 6, 2013
0.5l bottle. It’s pretty deep dark brown this, almost black in the glass and it has a medium sized quickly islandy bubbly brown top. Some roasted tones in the aroma, but it’s more fruity and watery than roasted really. Some chocolate paper also, and a hint of thin coffee. Not to bad for a light ale. It’s surprisingly tasty as well, and they are definitely not lying to much with the description "smooth and full bodied". Has to be the best mouthfeel I’ve had on a beer within this ABV category. Heavy roasted, almost burned at times flavors, some cardboard, lots of cold coffee, a good hoppy sting and malty biscuits. Also some coffee acidity in the finish. Lots of flavor in this. Did not expect it, but it undoubtedly is. 25.03.2013
0.5l bottle. This is a deep dark brown one with a medium sized light broen and bubbly lacing head. On the nose it’s mild chocolaty, some traces of cold coffee, a malty chocolaty sweetness, traces of something light fruity. It smells absolutely approved for a low strength stout. I’m surprised how much mouthfeel this thing has. Feels oily and surprisingly thick and full-bodied in the mouth, and the carbonation is soft. More chocolate in the taste. Cold coffee is definitely also present in this, and it has a milky sweetness. Some lactose perhaps? A really good lightweight stout. 13.04.2013
