Toasted malt nose, dark dark brown-black color. Nice roastedness in the middle of a rather quick profile. Thinish, but with a good balance and a clean palate.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2005 Bottle
Very dark brown, almost black but some reddish. Lasting small tanned creamy head. Mild roasted malt aroma. Very smooth palate with fine coffee flavor. Very drinkable "light" but not watery stout! (5/5/8/5/16 3.9)
Re-rated, bottled (BB 10/2006)
Dark brown, good tanned foamy head. Menthol hoppy nose. A bit thin roasted and chocolaty, a bit hoppy. Quite light for the name "double stout". (6/4/6/3/12 3.1)

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black color, ok brownish head. Aroma is sweet, with licorice and some cocoa. Flavor brins some whipped cream (?) and smoked fish. Quite a combination...*s* But all together, this is a good stout.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2007 (Bottled) Very dark brown with a medium, foamy and lacy, beige head. Milky-roasty aroma with dark chocolate and salty licorice. Dry and quite ashy, burned-malty flavor with sweet licorice breeze in the middle, and a quite quickly fading ashtray finish. There’s more color malt than I’d like, but somehow it suits this one better than most. Ashiness fades away, though, as the beer warms up. When only slightly cooled in the first place, the flavor is a bit dull and uninspiring, leaving out some of the licorice. The "serve cool, not chilled" in the label seems like a good advice. Medium-bodied, pretty foamy-carbonated and ashy palate - mostly slicky-smooth when warm. A nice stout, and nice to have it back in the Finnish monopoly stores after the 3 years’ break. Nothing but the bottle has changed - even the score remained the same :) Too bad (well, not really :) we now also have access to the Nøgne Ø Imperial Stout, so there’s no reason to buy this - but anyway...
(Bottled, rated 1/17/2004, was 6-4-7-4-14=3.5) Very dark brown color, foamy, off-white head. Malty but dry aroma. Pretty full-bodied flavor, that has lots of roasted malt and some smokedness. Dry, chalky finish with bitterness tingling on the tongue.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark color, with ruby shades; thick and generous creamy head. Very nice aroma: malt, roasted malt, cheesy, light ammonia. The flavor is less original, starts weak, then the roasted malt and coffee take their place. Ends with a long coffee note.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Red-brown with very low color for a stout.
Roasted fruity aroma with tones of chocolate and a bit sourish.
Roasted malty flavor with müsli tones and dry finish. Very thin for stout according to me.
