COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled. Pasteurised.
A smooth, full-bodied stout with a refreshing hoppy aftertaste. Brewed with proportions of Black Malt for colour and ’toast’ flavour and Brown Malt for dryness. Based on a recipe over 100 years old, brewing was revived in 1996 after a break of 79 years.

My Bottom Line:
Mild roastiness, molasses and crème brûlée crust give this Dry Stout some personality within its svelte mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam settles atop the brown-hued black.
-This may be nothing special, but it is impeccably done.
-It’s pretty low on hops. There’s a minty edge, but that’s it.
-Carbonation is a tad fizzy.
-The finish is rather dry with more malt flavour and presence.

Bottle.

Pours dark brown with a nice head. Aroma of roasted malts and some coffee. Mouthfeel is medium. Flavour is everything you expect of a stout, roasted malts, bitter coffee, some sweet dark fruits. The abv is low, but this is a pretty decent stout for the relatively low alcohol by volume.

Bottle. 4.8%. Best before 12.06.13. Pours a clear dark brown with a rather big, fluffy tan head. Good lacing. Sweetish and light roasted aroma with a remote touch of vanilla. Floral note as it warms. Further warming brings out a light spicy note and a bit of apple. Flavour is sweetish, slightly roasted, a bit floral and with a slight metallic overtone. Feels a bit watery. Finish is bitter (bitterness feels a bit intrusive at first, but it wears off), with a light metal note and lingering grassy note. Overall so-so. 06.06.13.

Bottle at home. Pours a black colour with a light beige medium head. Nice roasted aroma with nuts, leather, dark berries, cocoa and dark chocolate. Much of the same in the flavour but is sweeter with hints of lactose and less roasted than expected. Has a silky and light mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A well-balanced and easy-drinking stout.

Excelente stout no estilo britânico, saborosa e leve, malte perceptível em sua intensidade com notas de café e chocolate, ótimo drikability, recomendo ela para iniciação de amigos "brahmeiros".

500ml bottle in Porterhouse Cork. Pours a charcoal black with a tan bubbly head. Aroma is great if slightly peculiar, taking in coffee, dark chocolate, burnt toast, cream and a hint of off-putting fishyness. Taste is a light roasty bitterness with a quite a bit of balanced sweetness going on. Lots of toast, milky chocolate and latte in the taste. Slightly dry but sweet finish. Smooth and creamy in the mouthfeel. Quite a tasty stout, kind of like what Guinness should be. I’ll be drinking this one again, should the opportunity arise.

Dec 2012 - Roasted barley and smoke flavours, mild. They advertise ’toast’ flavour and I wouldn’t disagree. It’s quite a nice stout and I’ve no complaints.
