Cask at The Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon, 14-04-10 Pours light gold with a thin white head. This is crisp, clean, lemony, streaky lemony hops in fact, its simple, lovely and the tastiest thing from Hook Norton for some time, a wonderful hoppy beer, that outgunned the Brewdog Trashy Blond which (new cask) was a much better beer than I had on Saturday. The hoppiness in this Hooky was quite surprising but most welcome. In the same way that the Cigar City brewery lovers from Florida get called íhomersí Iím sure that mine and Glens rating will get us viewed in a similar vein, but believe me this is a very, very good beer from Hooky, I looked at the rest on offer and had another and stood at the bar with others I wasnít the only one to do this. It was also the best kept beer here tonight, maybe its proximity to the brewery helps, whatever I donít really care, I liked it very much. A7 A5 F8 P4 Ov16 4.0

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Bright gold with good lacing head. There is a lovely dry citrus bitterness from this, reminding me very much of First Light. Plenty of bite, tangy, grapefruity and sharp. I might be slightly biased perhaps but I really liked it.

Hand pulled cask at JDW Ruislip Manor. Gold with a good white collar. Well balanced bitter with biscuit malt and fresh fruity and bitter hops. Very good.

JDW Spring fest - Rochester. First beer of the fest - and a great start. Pale biscuit malt with a lip-smacking hop array - good English character done quite boldly so citric notes come through floating above a blackberry and tree-bark base. Good stuff indeed!

A Mes rate. Cask at Baker St. íSporks.
Golden colour with a very slight haze and a good white head and lace. This is pretty decent stuff. A straight down the line bitter. Good earthy malt, balanced superbly with some really tasty grassy hops with a surprisingly assertive bitterness for a Hook Norton beer. Good length, good drinkability, crisp and dry but some reasonable body too. Prickly bitter aftertaste rounds it off really well. I like this one

Cask @ Society Room, JDW. 44p / half pint! Glowing golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy, a bit malty, hints of citrus. Flavour is fruity, malty backbone, citrus. Slightly bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto, JDW, Folkestone. I had this down as Early Mist. Gold, thin fizzy white head. Itís an ok golden ale, bit of stale malt on the finish I thought at first, but then as I drank my third of a pint it became really quite decent with some light tropical flavours and some bitterness on the finish. I gave it to a non beer drinking friend and they liked it too.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 8/04/10. Pale gold with a decent white head. A well-balanced bitter with some decent citrus hops, bready malts, a touch of minerals and long, bitter finish. Very good.

Cask conditioned handpump Saracens Head Daventry . A light gold coloured beer with a lasting white head and lacing. A grassy hoppy aroma with a hint of spice. Lovely crisp bitterness in the mouth. There is that grassiness and slight spice again too. Tasty and very drinkable.
