2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
0.5l bottle. This is a clear deep golden one with a small really bubbly just off-white top. The aroma is not to inviting to be honest. It smells like a thin English bitter; watered down caramel, something floral, almost a bit metallic before some traces of sweet burned raisins appear. Well, not to flagship-like on the aroma at least, but hopefully it will be a bit better on the taste. Well, not much really. By all means no bad flavors, just hoped for something a bit more. Thin oily mouthfeel and the carbonation is just below average. Caramel and mouthdrying wood at first. The it gets all floral, with something slightly burned. Almost like a burned match. It has a trace of bitterness, but you don’t really notice it before in the aftertaste. It kinda grows on you, but all in all this is a beer within a genre I’m struggling to really get a hold on. That being said, is not a bad beer this. 23.03.2013

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Aroma is fruity, flowery. Colour is clear golden, head is small and quickly disappearing. Taste is nicely balanced fruity sweet and hoppy bitter. Lacks the usual IPA hop hick, but never mind. Later honey and zest appear in taste. Despite the commercial description being false, the beer itself is not really bad. No wonder it is classified as ESB here, I was just about to suggest it. The hops bitterness is earthy in flavour, lightly zesty. Drinkability is good, finish is a bit mild / short duration.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet Stovner ( BU). Golden color, good foam. Good fruitiness , citrus, slight orange peel, malt- notes of hops. Medium body & complexity. Some immediate sweetness, ok bitterness- but overall on the sweet side. Pretty good beer

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Glowing amber. Bittersweet, very decent English premium ale. Malty, true to style, but enough hops and carbonation to avoid getting too cloying.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Deep copper, beige head. Smells of malts, earthy hops, some floral aroma and zests. Moderate sweet, quite malty, clean and crisp, medium bitter finish with zests and resins. A very nice english ESB. Lovelyh malt flavors and hops, my only wish is even a bit more hops maybe?

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A nice typical pale-ale aroma meets me with scents of english goldings hops. Floral, slightly spicy and sweet. In the flavor i get more goldings hops, caramel, and maybe some nuttyness. perfect low carbonation, good for the style. a good fitting bitterness for the style.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a light amber body with a small, short-lasting white head. Nose is caramel, bread dough, biscuits and hints of red fruits. Taste is bready caramel, grassy hops, smooth malt tones and hints of red fruits again. Medium body, soft carbonation. Fair enough, but I’d think a "flagship" ale would call for something with more "oomph", even for a traditional British beverage.
