Bottled.
A premium pale ale with distinctive fruity taste. The beer is light in colour, and has a refreshing clean flavour, which belies its strength.

500ml bottle from Gloucester services on the m5. Amber colour. Thin almost no head. Bland aroma and taste. No good.

Kullanruskea, kirkas, hieman samea. (31.1.2015)

Maker: Hook Norton Brewery, Hook Norton, United Kingdom *** Beer: Haymaker (bottled, 500ml) *** Style: Premium Bitter/ESB *** ALC.VOL.: 5.0% *** "A premium pale ale with distinctive fruity taste. The beer is light in colour, and has a refreshing clean flavour, which belies its strength." [brewery notes] *** Colour: Clear deep amber; medium, creamy off-white head. *** Nose: Floral hops, peach, grass, slightly sweetish caramel malts. *** Texture: Medium body, not watery at all. Soft carbonation. *** Taste: Powerful floral hops AND biscuity malts at the outset. Some peachy flavors in the background. Full flavor. Towards the middle it’s more about the hops. Bitterness increases, malty base remains. Rounded finish with buscuit malts and floral notes, a whiff of citrus. Long, moderately bitter but explicitly malty aftertaste. *** Impressions: Full-flavored premium bitter, with a nice balance of malts and hops, both equally expressive. Characterful brew, not exactly a session beer (naturally).

Bottle, 0905/15. Pours a coppery orange with a small, white head. Aroma is flowers, some marzipan, fruitiness, peach. Taste is flowery, some caramel, light orange. Decent enough.

Pours clear amber with a small white head. Sweet, fruity, malty aroma. Flavor is malty with some light notes of hops. Drinkable but nothing impressive.

Clear nutty color with a fine off white head. Good lacing. Nutty, mild fruity and herbal aroma. Medium body. Moderate sweet and a fresh bitterness. Average carbonation. Fruity, herbal and caramel flavor. Decent nice bottled British bitter.

Light copper coloured beer with not much head on top. Aroma has grassy hops and barley malts. Almost like straws in the aroma, I totally get the Haymaker name now. Taste has grassy hops, lots of malts, maybe wheat but mainly barley. Light body with high carbonation.

It has a really strong honey aroma, otherwise not that special, really bitter too.

How could they brew so light beer for haymakers back in the day? Lovely bitter, a hint of grass. Yet, I’m not a fan of bitters.
