Previously Best Bitter, name changed in to Hooky Bitter in April 2005. "Bitter" subsequently dropped from the name. ABV reduced from 3.6% to 3.5% in 2012.
A subtly balanced, golden bitter, hoppy to the nose, malty on the palate - the classic session beer, eminently drinkable.

Pours orange with a frothy head. Aroma if wet leaves and malt. Slight metallic taste, slightly bitter, but rather ordinary all around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.5%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of malt sugar and grassy hops. Thin mouthfeel, drier than the aroma made me expect. The flavour has some weak toffee and caramel notes, followed by a fairly distinct bitterness, but is not particularly complex. Still a drinkable "ordinary" bitter.

Bottle from ICA Maaseskjæret, Bergen. Pours a deep golden-amber body with a medium, short-lived white head. Nose is nutty malt tones, biscuits and hints of bread and faint grass. Taste is jagged grass-hoppy tones up front and bready malts in the back. A bit jumbled in its profile. Medium to thin body, medium carbonation. Not the best bitter I’ve had.

Medium offwhite head. Clear amber body with carbonation. Earthy caramelly strawy aroma, quite light, with toffee and paper notes. Dryish papery caramelly taste with earthy notes. Mid-to-light body. Mild mouthfeel. Dry spicy dried fruit aftertaste with papery caramelly earthy notes. Not bad, but a bit austere. (0.5l bottle, Meny Oslo City.)

I love this cask beer and the bottle did not disappoint either. Really great depth of flavour. Hoppy and comforting, great balance and bitter finish, and very, very drinkable.

50cl bottle from Meny, Oslo City. Pours dark golden with a white head. Mild hoppy aroma with malt, caramel and some fruitiness. Medium sweet with a nice and bitter finish. Fairly light body, but surprisingly nice for it’s low alcohol. Very sessionable, although it would get boring after a few. Still very easy to drink and a quite decent bitter.

This is a solid bitter with nothing notable to set it apart from the herd.
