COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Pale, delicately fruity and refreshing. Hooky Gold is a beer which marries English tradition with American pizzazz. It is the first of our beers to use an American hop variety, Willamette, grown in Oregon, and having moderate bitterness with a spicy, noble hop aroma.

Bottle, 4.1%. Pours slightly hazy amber with stable white head. Clear aroma of hops, with notes of fruit and citrus. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with pronounced estery and citric notes. Hints of nuts. Bitter, rough aftertaste. Drinkable and OK, but nothing extraordinary.

"Handcrafted in the Cotswold Hills since 1849". You’d think they could’ve come up with something a bit better by now. Times change, tastes change, technology changes. Pours clear gold, very minimal white head. Aromas are buttery, some light floral hops. Taste has a little spice, but mostly water. Promised pizzazz plainly passed. Piffle.

500 ml bottle from a supermarket in Helsinki, 4.1% abv. Clear dark yellow colour, small frothy whit mostly dissipating head, decent lacing. Light malty aroma of bisquit, hay and dough, moderate fruity and floral hops. Taste is initially bittersweet turning into a fairly bitter longish finish with an astringent feel. Medium body, lively carbonation, dry texture. Not bad at all, a bit too much like lager, but still quite different and pleasant

Decent refreshing golden ale, lots of pilsener-like feeling. Nothing really unique, still good.

Appearance: Clear light amber with 2 finger thick white head. Aroma: Biscuit, lemon, floral and grassy. Taste: Medium bitterness, low/medium sourness and low sweetness. Palate: Thick coarse texture, light body, average carbonation, dry abrupt malty, peppery citrus finish with hints of orange marmalade. Comments: Tasty and glass lace. This review is for the 4.1% ABV bottle version.

djoeye (926) - Tromsø, NORWAY - NOV 16, 2013
500ml 4.1% abv brown bottle with yellow label. Bright off-white head on the amber-golden body. Scents of fruity hops mixed with malts. Tastes fruity malts, roasted grains, hops, british bitter underneath. Quite smooth on palate, well bodied, with a nice little bitterness. Ends dry and gentle bitter, some burnt wood and roasted elements. Overall tasty on that moderate abv.
