Ungstrup (14758), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 20, 2005 A hazy red-orange beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and dust. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of toffee, but also some fruity notes of oranges and a nutty dry finish. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Nov 1, 2005 A Mes rate:
Tobacco, marzipan and manure in what I can only describe as an unusual aroma. Good looking redish amber appearance but with poor head retention. Creamy, slightly effervescent(sp?) flavour with some enjoyable fruit notes plus some slight liquorice and coconut. A solid English beer. Still not sure about that aroma though! shoestring (187), larkhall, Scotland Oct 21, 2005 deep rich colour. full mouthfull. head not too big...fades . nice, but i found it to be very filling. pivnizub (4953), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Sep 18, 2005 Bottle: Copper coloured, hazy, firm white, longer lasting head; big fruity, vinous nose with a tinge of caramelly maltiness or should I say butterscotch ? Very smooth; initial slightb dry fruitiness, moderate bitter-aromatic flavour, endinbg in a dry, hoppy aromatic aftertaste with a tinge of vinous fruitiness again. Fine ale ! tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 2, 2005 Thick butterscotch aroma is fairly sweet and fruity. Clear amber body topped by a low white head that recedes slowly. Thick malty flavour with only a hint of butterscotch. Light bitterness keeps it from cloying. Medium-light body with fair carbonation. Bottle (clear). Entered from notes.
omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 5, 2005 Bottled. Hazy dark amer, firm, rocky head. The aroma is all about butterscotch. Really sweet and caramelly with that lovely Hook Norton malt character hidden in an abundance of sugar & toffee. Some grassy bitterness that tries to cope with the butterscotch. As a big fan of this brewer I’m disappointed, but still it’s a decent brew. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Jul 14, 2005 Poured amber in colour with a long lasting head. Subdued malt aroma. Flavour starts mildly sweet with a long bitter finish. Some caramel notes, but overall a little bland. Still a very refreshing session bitter though. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Jul 2, 2005 There is little aroma, but what is there is mainly malt. Taste is smooth, particularly noticably smooth, malty, maybe a little fruity/honey taste and slightly hoppy finish, but not too dry. We’ve never had this in the spoon before and was nice to try something different. Pleasently suprised.
