Bottle (in NZ), a clear amber with a creamy white head. A standard ESB earthy malt aroma, only hints of caramal and fruit. More roasted malt character on the palate, nutty, with quite a bit of caramal sweetness. Moderate bitterness in the finish

Dec 30, 2008 Bottle from Waitrose. No major complaints here, despite being pasteurised. Bright copper/amber colour with a thin white head. Surprisingly hoppy aroma - slightly resinous and flowery - with caramel and plummy fruit. Flavour falls away a bit, concetrating on fruity malt, decoming dry and reasonably bitter on the finish. Solid but unexciting. The cask is better.

Dec 26, 2008 Pours a nice shade of amber with a modest head... Sweet malty aroma, subtle fruitiness... Slightly fruity taste with sweet malts... Decent offering, a bit overpriced in the US....

Dec 7, 2008 Bottle from Tesco. Dark red/amber with white head. Fruity malty aroma with hops noticeable at the edges. Caramel fruity taste with a good dry, bitter finish. Well balanced and a very enjoyable drink.

Oct 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber with a off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with light fruit, a hint of hops and a touch of caramel. Flavor is sweet malts, fruit, toffee and a bit of caramel with a little bitterness and a dry finish.

Oct 5, 2008 Pours a clear dark amber with medium head. Malty aroma. Fruity, light hops and some sweet. Simple, uncomplicated beer thats quite enjoyable . B rating.
