3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
[Pint, J.D.W. Cuthbert Brodrick - Leeds, 07/01/10] Aroma is all malt, with little in the way of hoppy influence, so there is caramel and toast on the nose, with subtle unwanted metallic notes. Taste is much the same; caramel sweetness joins in, with a light-medium bitter finish. Medium bodied with a slight oiliness. Not perfect, but this is certainly a quality English session beer for me.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask at the Water House (JDW), Durham, £2.09/pint.
Pours a deep, reddish amber with a thin, off-white head. The nose has touches of cereal grain and grass to it as well as doughy, bready malts. The taste is heavily sweet with malt-driven earthy, bready flavours overpowering the palate. Not one I enjoyed very much.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at Victoria ’spoons. Clear orange, still, small bubbly white head. Aroma is very light, some bready notes. Body is medium, smooth, watery low condition. Taste is bready, watery, touch of spice and resin. A touch insipid, and perhaps not at its best.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Quite hoppy bitter with a dry finish. Some tartness. The cask version is nice and fresh tasting. Overall, a good solid beer though just slightly too tart to be perfect.

Nice fruity ale. Looks the part with a nice white head. Just fruits, fruits, fruits. Lovely carbonation as well.
