From BA (2007):This beer is brewed for the Rugby World Cup, which is on at the moment. I reviewed it at the Crown Inn, Oakengates: Hand pulled pint. Bright and clear, it is a light golden bitter with a firm white head. No great aroma, some hops and malt, but nothing much. Hoppy and dry in the taste, a little disappointing. Very dry in the aftertaste and a slight metallic hint arrives towards the end of the flavour. Not as good as I had hoped, just a bog standard bitter.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. 3.9% Gold with a small white head. Plummy malt aroma. Taste is smooth, gentle, grainy, creamy. Very little bitterness. All rather subdued. A bit like England in the RWC.

Cask Conditioned, Pear Tree, Hook Norton, Oxfordshire. Malty and dry. Not the best Hook Norton beer, but up there.

Cask Conditioned at The Coach and Horses, Banbury. Golden brown beer with thin head. For the uninitiated, an Outside Half is a position on a Rugby Union team in this case, so presumably this is brewed for the 6 Nations Championship going on at the moment, Rugby is a big deal in England at the moment. The beer is certainly not a world beater unlike the team though, it is a soft malty brew with few other characteristics. There is no Hooky hoppiness worth describing, it is just a little on the boring side.
