UPDATED: NOV 17, 2009 Cask handpull at the brewery. Bright tawny amber with a collapsing foamy head. Discreet smokiness in the aroma, lingering nuts, Ovaltine, peat, big balancing hop. Peated malt dominant but not overpowering. Certainly enough to qualify it as a ’Smoked’. Schlenkerla shandy. Lovely

Mid brown coloured with earthy and wheat aromas. Bitter finish.

Dark red colour roasted and fruity. MAlt finish.

Mid brown colour slightly hoppy and fruity. Bitter lasting malt finish.
4. Cask Handpump at the Alma, Scarborough 04/12/2009
Smoked aroma. Small white head. Copper amber coloured a little rich on the palate and fruity with a crisp and bitter smoked malt finish.

Cask conditioned @ JDW, Soton. Malty aromas and liqourice. Thin and salty, a bit on the sweet side. Could be pretty decent with a fuller body and less saltiness.

Medway Fest. Ruby colour. Licorice nose. Mmm. Malty and roasty. A deep and gorgeous Autumnal ale. long, lingering dark toffee notes merging with damp Autumnal leaves.

Cask at The Golden Lion, Ipswich. Deep brown colour. Full malty flavour, prunes and forest fruits aroma, hints of English malt vinegar and HP Sauce in both aroma and flavour. Dusty finish. Nice.

Cask Conditioned at The Hare & Hounds, Wardington. Copper bronze colour with thinnish head. A heady mix of flavours without anything too oustanding. A dry tea type hop note and a good dose of lightly roasted malt, some smokeyness. Refreshing but confusing.

Cask conditioned. Bronze with a good tight head and fine condition. Fruity nose, flavours of nut and hop with a little smokey malt and a finish that starts with toffee and gets hop bitter at the end.
