Twelve Days is a dark brown strong beer brewed for Christmas. A finely balanced ale, lightly hopped with a strong malt and nutty flavor. The strength gives the beer a smooth lingering aftertaste. A definite ale to savour.

Vintage 2004 - tasted May 05. It’s a dark brown reddish mahogany color and a small head. The aroma has notes of dark fruit and the mouthfeel is full, and the flavour is rather complex and delicious. It has notes of roasted malts, light sweetness, dark fruit and hints of licorice and spice. These words might lead the thoughts in direction of Belgian beers, but this is lighter and more refreshing. I like a beer with so few %, when it has this very nice and full-bodied taste. Vintage 05 - tasted November 05. It’s not yet as smooth as the 04, but the notes are pretty much the same. I do however also find nuts in the flavour in this one though.

The pour is a somewhat hazy reddish brown with a modest light tan creamy head that fails quickly leaving a velum like coating of lace. Nose has a sweet rich malt aroma, caramel, and a bit of hops, spicy and pleasant. Front is quite sweet, decently malted, with a touch of the bittering hops at the back, moderate in feel. Finish has a fair to middling acidity, the hops delectable in their spiciness, sweet and dry aftertaste lingers long on the palate, a quite nice beer.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2007 In the bottle at the 2007 Crescent Moon Holiday Beer Tasting. Dark reddish amber brown with a thin white head. Pineapple-like aroma. Mild hazelnuts to the scent as well. The first taste is fairly medicinal. Lots of caramel and butter brickle toffee. It’s just too thin in body to be a great beer. Finishes with a mild roasted coffee flavor, but little else.

Pours a transparent dark amber ruby with a frothy well-lacing off-white head. Lightly sweet pale malty nose has some nutty notes and a hint of light fruitiness. Body is fairly full with some earthy dark caramel English malty notes with a hint of raisins and a drier toasty finish. Pretty nicely-balanced with light sweetness throughout.

Dark mahogany, with a nice foamy beige head. Nutty, smoky, somewhat cola-ish aroma. Flavor is also nutty, with a touch of molasses and an earthy, herbal finish.

Pours dark drown w/ a tall lasting froth. Superb lacing. Aromas of mocha and mild darkfruits. Medium nectar w/ relaxed effers that create a rich, truely creamy texture. A dry brew w/ a mild roast upon fields of mocha, dates, cherry skins, molases, coffee bean, roasted chestnuts. There is a rather defined bittering component that sets up shop early and works into the wee hours. The finish is long and flavorfull w/ perfect bittering. This brew is full flavored and very English in nature.

(Bottle thanks larsniclas and rlgk) Pours dark reddish brown. The aroma is fruity and light hoppy with tones of mild resin, flowers, oranges, pears and some darker fruits. A nut like and sweet malt backbone. The flavour is malty and hoppy with tones of citrus, light milk chocolate, nuts and flowers. Soft and quite round mouthfeel with a medium body.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is distant with some dark fruit and caramel malt showing up but its really faint. Flavor is some brown sugar and nuts with a bit of malts but nothing really stands out. I did not care for this one to much.
