Twelve Days is a dark brown strong beer brewed for Christmas. A finely balanced ale, lightly hopped with a strong malt and nutty flavor. The strength gives the beer a smooth lingering aftertaste. A definite ale to savour.

0.5l bottle. This is a light blurry deep ruby colored one with a medium sized bubbly beige top. On the nose I get dark fruits, dark caramel, a little bit of sweet chocolate and hints of licorice and brown sugar. Nice non-extreme one. It’s slightly below average on the carbonation and it has a light oily mouthfeel. Flavors are a bit pungent, but not in a directly bad way. Dark malts, more thin licorice, dark slightly burned and bitter caramel and traces of fruits. Ends with a present bitterness and slightly copper-ish and earthy thing reminding of burned rye bread in the aftertaste. It has a decent flavor this. Twelve days? What does that even mean? Wait a minute; That label? is that a partridge in a pear.. DAMMIT! Now I got that song on my mind! 29.11.2012

50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours clear dark brown with a reddish hue and an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, spices, caramel and dark dried fruits. Medium sweet with roasty, bready and caramelly flavour and a surprisingly nice bitterness in the finish. Nicely balanced and easy to drink.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of dark roasted caramel, toffee and raisins. Taste is light roasted malts, lots of liquorice and dark chocolate. Suitable dry bitterness from the hops and roasted malts. Easy to like this one, caramel and liquorice heaven.

500ml bottle from Dan Murphy’s. Deep brown pour with a stable tan head that laces well. Nose of caramel, burnt brown sugar, dried dark fruits and a hint of nuttiness. Lovely smooth malty mouthfeel and taste without being too sweet. Low hop bitterness at the finish. A nice dark ale that knocks spots off Tooheys Old.

Pours a dark copper brown. Aromas of dark malt and some hops. More interesting in the mouth with some bitter chocolate, nuts, rye bread, and more dark malt. Good balancing hops, and very dry and crisp. Good English style Christmas beer.
