Twelve Days is a dark brown strong beer brewed for Christmas. A finely balanced ale, lightly hopped with a strong malt and nutty flavor. The strength gives the beer a smooth lingering aftertaste. A definite ale to savour.

pint.9 oz bottle pours a walnutty brown into my guinness pint glass. mild aroma of malt, toffee, roasty figgy fruit and lightly spiced, though it doesn’t seem to have any actual spice added. minty flavor, very delicately balanced and quite nice and smooth for 5.5%. medium-bodied, but any more and it would be sticky; any less and it would be weak. i like this very much.

BB 06Feb14. Poured a mahogany red brown colour with a thin light tan bubbly head that diminished quickly to a line of bubbles. Poor lacing. Low carbonation. Aroma delightfully of chocolate but with under-lying alcohol. Taste of malt sweetness followed by a nice mild tasty hops bitterness that was not over-bearing. Medium body. Smooth finish. Quite OK.

Rich, heady nose. Pours very dark amber with a firm cream head. Flavour is complex with dark notes being balanced by some vinous, sherry-like sweetness. Finish is pleasingly astringent on the back of the tongue, with a lingering citrus and honey malt. Very nice indeed.

A dark deep red beer with a good brown head. Aroma is rather sweet with hints of fresh fruits and malts. Flavor is roasty malty with notes of coffee, nuts with a nice dark bitter chocolaty finished. Stands out from most X-mas ales in a pleasant way.

Clear reddish dark brown with nice tan head that doesn’t last. Subtle, pleasant malty aroma. Lovely palate, plenty of body, almost oily thick with a nice tingle of carbonation. Taste is rich and complex with malty sweetness and chocolates dark roast malts. Overall a great string dark beer.

Bottle thanks to my sister for christmas. Pours a dark brown with mahogany flashes down the side of the glass. Smallish dense light tan coloured head. Fine lacing leaves as except the thinest film. Aromas of sweet light caramel, cinnamon and ginger and some light stone fruits. Very christmas like. Flavours are sweet thanks to all the malt with only feint hop bitterness to finish. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel with slightly resiny after taste.

Appearance: Clear dark brown with ruby highlights and finger thick ivory head. Aroma: Dried fruit, caramel/toffee note, bread, grassy/hay and nutty. Taste: Low sourness, low/medium sweetness and medium bitterness. Palate: Thick smooth texture, light/medium body, average carbonation, abrupt fairly dry bitter/sweet finish of dried fruit, chocolate malt and a hint of pepper. Comments: Very good and glass lace.
