Twelve Days is a dark brown strong beer brewed for Christmas. A finely balanced ale, lightly hopped with a strong malt and nutty flavor. The strength gives the beer a smooth lingering aftertaste. A definite ale to savour.

A dark deep red beer with a good brown head. Aroma is rather sweet with hints of fresh fruits and malts. Flavor is roasty malty with notes of coffee, nuts with a nice dark bitter chocolaty finished. Stands out from most X-mas ales in a pleasant way.

500ml bottle from Dan Murphy’s. Deep brown pour with a stable tan head that laces well. Nose of caramel, burnt brown sugar, dried dark fruits and a hint of nuttiness. Lovely smooth malty mouthfeel and taste without being too sweet. Low hop bitterness at the finish. A nice dark ale that knocks spots off Tooheys Old.

Clear reddish dark brown with nice tan head that doesn’t last. Subtle, pleasant malty aroma. Lovely palate, plenty of body, almost oily thick with a nice tingle of carbonation. Taste is rich and complex with malty sweetness and chocolates dark roast malts. Overall a great string dark beer.

Bottle from West Lakeview Liquours, Chicago. Dark brown with small off-white head. Aroma is doughy with caramel, brown sugar and red fruit. Flavor is caramel with some nuttieness, fresh brown sugar (if brown sugar can seem fresh), red fruit, sweet, some hop bitterness in the finish. Medium to full creamy body. A solid mix between a brown ale and a winter warmer.

Bottled. To paraphrase Baldrick from Balckadder’s Christmas Carol, ’It come from the shop, it said its piece, and then it sodded off’. I like a winter ale to have a little life in it, this was smooth and well balanced indeed, but I’d have liked a little more to be made of its nuttiness. An unremarkable dark beer.

medium brown with thick and frothy white head. nose of pale chocolate and low crystal malt. firm bitterness for the style before a ton of low crystal, pale chocolate, and perhaps some brown malt with a lot of english yeast character. a nice fermantation profile without much residual sweetness. the taste is of a more bitter brown porter. very nice
