3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, - NOV 11, 2005
JDW, Rochester. Sticky sweet Autumn Ale with pleasant chocolate and roasted peanut notes. Brewers have been playing around for some years with crystal malt to create a decent Autumn Ale - this is one of the better attempts, but is too sweet for me.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - SEP 8, 2008
1) Tamworth 08. Murky headless ruby. Overwhelming aroma of sesame oil/ toasted seeds. Some mellowing chocolate and roast in the mouth, but aroma and flavour all about the sesame. Not unpleasant, but one dimensional and weird.
2) Out of The Vaults, Leicester. (2 days later-had already forgotten I’d had it). Clear ruby. Sesame oil aroma/flavour. Some chocolate and faint marzipan. Soap and mushy biscuit in there. Better than at the festival, but still one dimensional.

2 average beers for this wetherspoons beer festival, i have to say this has been a disapointing festival, this year. Aroma is a maltyness balanced with soem yeasty hoppiness. Taste is similar though a little uninspiring.

Cask@The Roebuck, Richmond, london. Close in character to a mild, yet not totally disimiliar to an old ale. Slightly sweet malty nutty notes, with some subtle roast and woody acidity. Pleasant. Drank it while playing some bar billiards with kook.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 maeib (6637) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2004
Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel - Northampton. A dark brown coloured bitter with lots of malts in the aroma and a chewy malty Irish ale type taste. Very tasty and drinkable but the Hop Back beers do tend to be good.
