COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
Terrific straw-coloured beer with a fresh, hoppy aroma and a well rounded, malty flavour with an intense bitterness which leads to an excellent long, dry finish. Winner of numerous, prestigious awards, most notably Best Strong Bitter at The Great British Beer Festival in 1992/93.
Ingredients: Optic pale malt. East Kent Goldings and Challenger hops (The bottled version uses EKG only).

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2013 Dobre i o dziwo bardzo mętne piwo z Anglii, co się żadko zdaża. Zapach prawie niewyczuwalny. Smak słodowo goryczkowy. Finisz wytrawny i rozgrzewający.

Vile old fusty dusty nose. Pilsneresque to look at and a graininess and dryness too which hint at something appealing but the odour and ’taste’ just consumes everything. No.

500 ml bottle poured into a Pint glass Appearance,... light yellow a little bit hazy, big head colour white very persistent Aroma. ... malty smell, wet grass too Taste.... little touch of citrus with a dry middle bitter end Mouthfeel... medium body with medium carbonation (a little high for an standard English ale in my opinion) Overall...... very refreshing, easy to drink but not so hoppy as you expect for an English bitter ale

Bottle. Perhaps I got a dodgy bottle. Find this stuff to be a bit underwhelming. Its got the pedigree of a great bitter but it failed to deliver.

On draught. Pale golden with thin head. Light yeasty aroma. Low carbonation. Slight sweetness, then lots of yeast and a fairly long, moderately bitter finish with a late astringency. A very good session beer, I enjoyed this one.

Gyllengul öl med vitt lätt skum. Doft av hö, örter med kryddighet. Smak av ljust bröd och en trevlig citrusaktig beska med viss pepprighet.

Lovely white frothy head and a pale golden colour. Develops a lot of yeast and hop notes on the nose, which is pretty much it as far as I can tell. Light fizzy, medium body and a slick bit oily texture. Tastes bitter due to the rather strong hop aromas. Finish is dry as expected.

On tap at Langtry’s, Nottingham. Standard looking blonde ale, small head. Light citrus aroma and a hops kick to the flavour raises it above the average drinkable summer ale.

Cask at the Happy Man, Englefield Green - 08/09/12. Clear pale blonde with a thinnish white head. Nose comprises pale malt, citrus and faint orange. Taste follows nose, a little summer fruit. Medium bodied and carbonation. I used to drink this beer regularly in the late 90’s and held it with high esteem. Doesn’t seem to be the same, or could be my taste buds crave a stronger beast!?! Pesky yanks and scandos!
