COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
Terrific straw-coloured beer with a fresh, hoppy aroma and a well rounded, malty flavour with an intense bitterness which leads to an excellent long, dry finish. Winner of numerous, prestigious awards, most notably Best Strong Bitter at The Great British Beer Festival in 1992/93.
Ingredients: Optic pale malt. East Kent Goldings and Challenger hops (The bottled version uses EKG only).

Very active beer initially when poured, very hoppy and very bitter to its detriment. Below par beer for the style.

Delicate hop flower bitterness and confident malt…A friendly conversation…

Bottle - Hazy dirt golden color. Aroma of hopsack. Maris Otter malt characteristics are all in here along with banana-like fruitiness. Finish is very dry and tannic. It appears that the cask would be much better.

The aroma really struck me--had an essence of a cherry licorice candy I used to have when I was a kid. The flavor didn’t match, but it was very bold and interesting. Light color. (Had on tap, Squirrel Inn, just off the A3 nr. Godalming, Surrey)

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2004 Bottle version: Clear yellow color with a fizzy head. Apples in the aroma, weak watery mouthfeel. Sampled NERAX '02: Watery palate, yellow color, starts a slight bit sweet ends a slight bit bitter. ZZZZZZ...

straw colored, no head, sligth floral aroma. CASK- Mild, fruity, with a dry finish. It’s a decent beer, nothing outstanding however.

Sampled cask conditioned. Golden coloured. Flowery aroma. Medium bodied. Rather sweet, clean. Salty and remarkably bitter finish.

Smells and tastes fresh and clean. This is a light beer with a dry rather than bitter finish. Nice bottle conditioned sparkle, too.

Lovely golden colour, with a good bitter quality. As the name suggests, a nice summer drink.
