COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
Terrific straw-coloured beer with a fresh, hoppy aroma and a well rounded, malty flavour with an intense bitterness which leads to an excellent long, dry finish. Winner of numerous, prestigious awards, most notably Best Strong Bitter at The Great British Beer Festival in 1992/93.
Ingredients: Optic pale malt. East Kent Goldings and Challenger hops (The bottled version uses EKG only).

Cask (handpump) The aroma has grassy hops, yeast, and bread dough. The appearance is golden with a small head. The flavor is lighter than I was expecting but still very good. It has plenty of malt and just the right amount of hops for bitterness. The palate is thin but ok for a summer beer.

The nose is hoppy. The color is golden and it has a small head. The flavor has a thin start, but then turning nicely hoppy. The only thing bearing this bear thru is the nice hopping - otherwise it is boring.

(Bottle 50 cl) Slightly hazy golden beer with a creamy head. Appears desperate to leave the bottle as soon as the cap is removed. Soft, malty nose. Very light body with discreet notes of malt and a rather subdued bitterness. Very refreshing while cold, but gains more character as it warms while the hops start to leave a mark. 121205

From cask at Charlies. Pours almost clear yellow with a lacing white head. Aroma is mild hoppy with minor fruity note. Flavour is mild fruity, mild bitterness and subdued malt base. Light fruity and light bitter finish.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2006 Casked. Yellow golden colour, small white head. Barnyard, fruitish and malts in aroma. Grassy and fruity flavour. Aftertaste is fruity and candyish. The grassyness in it sucks. 5 3 6 3 11

Bottled. Golden colour, foamy mediumsized head. Vegetables, sweetness and otherwise weird aroma too. Juniper, hops and malts in aroma. Luckily a bit better flavour than aroma. More harsh overall than the casked version. (4 2 5 3 10)

Blond color, with creamy head. Quite poor aroma, reminds me mass beers. Some malt flavor, medium round body, still reminding me not-so-good beers. Nothing special.
