Terrific straw-coloured beer with a fresh, hoppy aroma and a well rounded, malty flavour with an intense bitterness which leads to an excellent long, dry finish. Winner of numerous, prestigious awards, most notably Best Strong Bitter at The Great British Beer Festival in 1992/93.
Ingredients: Optic pale malt. East Kent Goldings and Challenger hops (The bottled version uses EKG only).

UPDATED: APR 4, 2003 Amazingly light beer for an English ale. Nonetheless, this straw colored, foamy brew is a good quencher, in the manner of, say, Cooper's Sparkling ale. Aroma is like grass, drying in the sun. Flavor is hop-dominated, crisp and distinctly dry with a grassy hint. I don't mind this stuff, but I think they're paying their label writer extra bucks for hyperbole. Good summer refresher. Yeasty Oberon-like flavor noted also, this is not bad.

Fruity nutty aroma. Very light golden colour. Slight head. Quite hoppy taste and very well rounded. Quite drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A bottle of, "That There". Only one man in the world will know what I mean. Smells odd. Smells of caster sugar and a bit of bleach? Pale gold colour. Tastes reedy, kinda farmyard-like with strong hints of candyfloss. Really weird. The cask versions of this I had in the 1990’s were ace but this is just like fizzy farmyard candyfloss. It’s so unlike what I recall I’m going to throw it away. Sorry.

Good-looking pale beer which can be over-carbonated. Initial flavor is immediate and dry-biscuity. Bitterness level is high and continues throughout. Malt is there somewhere but tends to get overpowered by the hops. Has the right credentials but rather too heavy-handed for me.

Cask at The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury. Mellow hops, smooth citrus with a nice chilled out taste. Nothing too adventurous here.

Golden with a white head. Highly sulfurous aroma, some hops. Sweet with a sour finish. Slightly thin on the palate, with light carbonation. Not great.

Bottle. Pours a clear light gold with a white foamy head. Aroma is light malt with a stale earthiness. Light body, medium carbonation. Citrussy, malty, OK.
