3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thankfully currently on tap at Jack Astorís. Black with a fizzy tan head. Aroma was nice. Rosted malt, coffee, a little vanilla. Light and soft. Smooth with a slightly sweet finish. This is the best Hop City beer Iíve had yet.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Very dark pour. Lighter than expected head that is pretty thick. Nice nutty smell. Goes down nice at first but then thereís something there. Something smoked, over smoked. A touch burnt tasting. Not sure what that taste is but I donít like it. No sir.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2014-08-01. Very dark brown body with a small tan head. 3+ Aroma is mild, light green herbaceous hops character, muted dark malt. Flavour has sweetish core with light roasty malt and dry finish. Average bodied palate, soft carbonation. Can from the LCBO, Toronto

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
can. pours clear dark brown mahogany with a nice creamy light beige head offering good retention and lacing. roasted coffee beans, burnt nuts and chocolate, clean yeast esters, very lightly tart red fruitiness, or maybe more of a roasted acidity, bittering resin and coffee - appreciable robustness, dry maple syrup notes, hint of hickory, ashes and metal. moderate carbonation, light body - oily, relatively dry grassy-spicy-resinous-bitter coffee finish. lacking in lagering notes - tad to much roasted acidity. decently crafted robust schwarz tho.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
473ml can. Looks dark. Aroma of light roasted malts, some pale malts, dough, and hints of hops. Flavor the same with an average texture. Nothing really stands out about this beer, but itís not bad for the style.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This lager poured a deep amber colour with a quick living head. Scents of smoke, malt and caramel. First swig was nice but a little thin in the mouthfeel dept. Malty, smokey flavours most prodominant. Finish is smokey but very good. Thicker would be better... That sounds terrible!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a nice dark, reddish hued black (think Coke). Thin off-white head. Leaves thin lacing behind.
Aromas of mocha, dark chocolate, with the slightest hint of wet cardboard.
Medium mouth feel. Tastes of light chocolate, and cherries. A bit of Apple peel.
Overall this is a nice light snack of a beer. Not heavy, very sessionable, but with a lot more going for it than you might think. Iíd buy it again.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Iím familiar with the seven deadly sins (intimately, wink, wink) but the 8th is a new one on me. What is it? Booziness? Horribly pouring a beer? (There was this time in Singapore...) At any rate Hop Cityís version of it pours a dark coke colour with a tan foamy head that fluffed it way up only about a finger. Smells of coffee, roasted malts, and little chocolate in there too. The smell alone got my gluttony and greed a-goiní. The taste however didnít follow through, mostly malts, with some breads, cereal and a lot less roast than I was expected. There is a metallic hint too, but overall itís rather light on flavour. (Easy drinking is what the marcobrewers sinfully call it.) Is the 8th disappointment? The Pope might not say so, but for me it just might be. Itís an okay beer, drinkable, but not great.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A fine black beer from an unexpected source!
Pours a mahogany dark brown - clear with a fair off-white rocky cap. Aroma is perfect for the style - understate and malt-subdue, some roast and light hops - Schwarzbier is not big on aroma. Flavour profile is very good for the style as well with big roastiness over subtle pale malts light supportive noble hopping - medium bodied and not too dry in the finish.
A very drinkable and tasty Thuringer styled balck beer Iíll buy more.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour from super cool looking tall boy is inky black with a one finger whipped cap. Flavour comes on strong with: a full deck of roasted malts, a hint of espresso, leather, hints of smoke & a slightly salty after taste. Wow. Thatís a big bag of flavour! You wont go wrong picking one of these up if one of these bad boys winks at you at the LCBO.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A reddish copper brown lager with a thick receding lacing mocha head. In aroma, nice bitter chocolate malt with coffee grind, roasty and nice. In mouth, a nice roasted chocolate malt with light grassy hops, a bit thin but overall nice. On tap at loose moose.
