Pours jet black with a big frothy tan head that sticks around. Very clear, some ruby highlights around the edges. Smooth coffee like toasted malt dominates the aroma with some toasty notes behind it. Big malt flavor, tastes of toasted bread crust, with a touch of caramel and a smooth toasty coffee note, the roast is very smooth with no astringency. Mouth feel is creamy with a medium body and medium carbonation. Really nice example, a little more of a caramel than I expected.

Aroma of chocolate with musty, earthy notes throughout. Pours dark with a rich, lingering tan coloured head. Strong dark chocolate flavour with hints of grain, oatmeal, and sweet mocha. Pleasantly carbonated but not very light for a dark beer, left me wanting more complex texture.

Pours ruby black with massive tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, coffee, burnt malt, fruit cake, and raisins. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, raisin. burnt malt, toffee, and black licorice . Has a creamy medium body with average carbonation, also a little dry feeling with good lacing.

Another Hop City product, and another favorite. Smells very faintly of malt. Almost a licorice smell. Pours a dark brown with no visible light through it. Head stays to the end. Taste is not overpowering of malt. No booze taste. Decent amount of carbonation. Small bubbles. Little aftertaste. Overall I was so happy with this purchase. Had on draft at The Works in London. Will be looking for this one again. MB The Beer Bearon

Black, appearing dark red when held to light. Tan foam. Aroma of voffe, espresso, malt. Body light and effervescent. Bold malty espresso flavour. Pleasant mild bitterness. Finish is looong and dominated by bold coffee, espresso flavours. Bold yet surprisingly drinkable.

Pours a nice dark, reddish hued black (think Coke). Thin off-white head. Leaves thin lacing behind. Aromas of mocha, dark chocolate, with the slightest hint of wet cardboard. Medium mouth feel. Tastes of light chocolate, and cherries. A bit of Apple peel. Overall this is a nice light snack of a beer. Not heavy, very sessionable, but with a lot more going for it than you might think. I’d buy it again.

Solid black with a little bit of tan head. Aroma is super roasty and toasty. Very biscuity with a little coffee. Nice. Very serious malty taste, more roast and bitterness. Feel is thin, but hey, this isn’t an RIS, it’s a lager. Good beer!

Thankfully currently on tap at Jack Astor’s. Black with a fizzy tan head. Aroma was nice. Rosted malt, coffee, a little vanilla. Light and soft. Smooth with a slightly sweet finish. This is the best Hop City beer I’ve had yet.
