COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When your brewmaster comes up with a recipe as good as this one, you let him name the beer whatever he wants. Here’s what makes our recipe so darn good: a rich burnt orange colour, darker than most lagers, a smooth, medium body with a bold, but pleasant, hop taste, full of flavour, unlike your traditional ’cold-as-ice’ beers with no taste, made with only the best ingredients, including Canadian & English Malts, and German & Czech Hops.

Decent blend of malt and hops. More substantial than the typical lager, which is admittedly not saying much.

On tap. Pours a deep copper color with moderate head. Aroma and flavors of thick sweet malts. Not much else.

Pours a copper to amber with off white head. Hints of toffee and caramel malts. Lacking in the taste department. Was a gift from a friend at a tasting party. Neat name but not sure I would buy

Canned, brought from Canada by friend. Pours amber with white head. Sweet, malty and grainy. Light bitterness. Expected a bit more.

It has a nice hippy taste at the end. It is not heavy. It is very enjoyable.

Pours a dark burnt orange amber with a medium lasting beige head. Aroma and Taste of toasted malt and grains, grass, yeast and fruity notes mild hops bitterness. A medium body with moderate carbonation on the palate. Finishes with a nice toasted malt grains flavor, fruity with mild bitterness, some nutty lingering flavors on the end. A fairly good tasting and refreshing brew.

Can. Nothing wrong with Hop City I say. She smells of light citrus and pine. Tastes of caramel, grass, and light pine, and some spicy hops. Has a heavier mouth fell than most lagers and that is a good thing. I was quite pleased with this lager.....for a lager.

Bottle. Pours a deep amber cool with no head. Aroma is strange, kind of medicinal, not good. Taste is malt forward, not what I was expecting from a brewery called hop city. The beginning is odd and funky while the end is a bit bitter and to style. It seems like it had promise but ended up being pretty pedestrian for me, just okay.

On tap. Amber pour with a white head. Very caramel. So much caramel. Kind of metallic. Not a bad mouthfeel for the style, but very one-dimensional flavour.

from Bier-Bienne - pretty clear reddish-amber beer with a little foam left; caramel dominates with hints of walnuts; medium-bodied, soft palate yet with a late earthy tartness; gentle bitterness, quite dry and with malty caramelish and flowery notes in the finish
