When your brewmaster comes up with a recipe as good as this one, you let him name the beer whatever he wants. Here’s what makes our recipe so darn good: a rich burnt orange colour, darker than most lagers, a smooth, medium body with a bold, but pleasant, hop taste, full of flavour, unlike your traditional ’cold-as-ice’ beers with no taste, made with only the best ingredients, including Canadian & English Malts, and German & Czech Hops.

New selection at my local beer store, from a bottle. Fairly smooth lager aroma bordering on old lager. Look is fairly pale lager. More personality compared to a pale lager. Has some fruitiness inthe background. A little slag on the palate and a good amount of co2. Goes down fairly easy but there is a little bit of mild bitterness building on the tongue during the session. Yes, personality continues to build as you drink. Finishes with a mild medicinal feel. Would like to try this on tap. I have tasted more mannered viennas.

Buckets, Jenkintown 12oz ($4.25): Pours an amber color with a small head. Aroma is faint caramel malt. Taste is faint anything. This was not any worse or better than the Yuengling I drank right before it.

Prettiest lager I’ve ever laid eyes on. Super smooth finish, with delicate hop/malt balance. Toasted malts in the nose. Good, full flavored lager. Would definitely have again.

On tap at Gene’s Place in Oakland (Pittsburgh, PA) Overall, not bad, aroma is faint, light to medium body, slight hop taste. Maybe, I like this style of beer.

It pours a clear but dark orange with a quickly fading head that doesn’t leave much lacing. The aroma is fairly malty. The taste is clean and crisp but far less watery than most lagers. It is nice and drinkable but also carries it’s flavor through the finish. Not too shabby!

On tap. I thought the tap handle looked pretty freakin cool (pretty similar to the can as pictured) so I decided to give this a shot. It was a better label than actual beer, unfortunately. Really thin, watery feel to it, and not a ton of flavor. Bonus points for cool packaging.

Aroma is one of beer’s most complex features. Aroma is propelled by lively CO2 and dampened by pillowy heads - especially nitrogen foam. Click on a term below to add it to your tasting notes.

Can. Dark amber. Lasting light foam. Nice malty nose with some hops, nice for the style. Pretty good. A bit of metallic edge to the flavour, some woody hop notes and malt body.

Better than your typical Canadian lager but nothing exceptional. Nice colour and head and a pleasant long finish. Would buy again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I enjoyed Barking Squirrel I enjoyed it as it as a beer that went down smooth with no real aftertaste. I find that some beers drink heavy and leave you feeling bloated, with Barking Squiirel I did not experience that.
