When your brewmaster comes up with a recipe as good as this one, you let him name the beer whatever he wants. Here’s what makes our recipe so darn good: a rich burnt orange colour, darker than most lagers, a smooth, medium body with a bold, but pleasant, hop taste, full of flavour, unlike your traditional ’cold-as-ice’ beers with no taste, made with only the best ingredients, including Canadian & English Malts, and German & Czech Hops.

Tap. Pours clear amber/copper with thin, creamy off-white head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is caramel and toasted malts, figs, apples, floral and grassy hops, and light woody notes. Flavor is bready malts, light caramel, light fruit esters, some floral hops, and some brown sugar; dry finish. Light/medium body and low carbonation.

This is a Vienna Lager, in the same vein as Samuel Adams. The colour, is absolutely perfect...the malt forward nose, is full of caramel, and toffee/nutty flavours...the hops you receive on the palate, is JUST enough to let you know it’s a Vienna, and not an I.P.A....The lacing, left in my pint glass, was INCREDIBLE! I did not expect lacing like that to occur. This is an excellent Vienna Lager, and one that is VERY easy to drink. I fell in love with Samuel Adams MANY years ago - as I love this style...Barking Squirrel, is no passing fancy...This beer is VERY GOOD! and here to stay...don’t let the cartoonish, squirrel, on the can/bottle fool you! Kudos, to Hop City!

Tap. Nut brown pour. Caramel aroma. Taste is sweet with some slight bitter hop notes. Great for its style.

Appears a nice nut brown colour with a good foamy head. Surprisingly flat and very drinkable. Aroma is very hop forward with a decent malt and maple presence. Good smooth semi-sweet lager. Probably go great with dark barbecue meats. Also left behind some good lacing.

Brownish, copper color with a tall head. Roasted malt and some caramel, but on the dry side. From a bottle. OK.

Pour a nice amber with a low white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma has a modest apple sweetness with a good amount of toasted and caramel malt with a nice lagery kick to finish. Flavor has a light apple juice start but moves into a toasted and caramel malt flavor with a nice light nutty ending. Body is very light with some nice fizzy feel. Overall not too bad.

16 Oz. Can. Poured dark amber, clear, nice off white frothy head with lots of lacing. Pine hops aroma with hints of yeast. Flavor of malts, caramel and hops creates a balanced bittersweet flavor. Very easy to drink, very enjoyable beer.

Copper with a large white head. Aroma is lightly toasted malts, lightly sweet. Flavor is light sweet malts, toasty, a bit of earthy hops. Medium bodied. Easy going lager- would go a few rounds with this.
