When your brewmaster comes up with a recipe as good as this one, you let him name the beer whatever he wants. Here’s what makes our recipe so darn good: a rich burnt orange colour, darker than most lagers, a smooth, medium body with a bold, but pleasant, hop taste, full of flavour, unlike your traditional ’cold-as-ice’ beers with no taste, made with only the best ingredients, including Canadian & English Malts, and German & Czech Hops.

Aroma of malt with notes of caramel. Clear copper colour. Slight hoppy bitterness with clean malty flavour. Lively on the palate with a medium body. Solid lager with a pinch of flavour - good for summer patios

33 cl bottle @ Kasteel de Breckt, Baarlo.
Rated on 20151004.
Pours golden color with a small head. Some hop notes here, grain and mild fruits. Grassy and grainy flavor, subtle hop bitterness. Decent hoppy Lager.

Tap at Duke of York in Toronto. Near clear, dark mahogany amber. Thick foamy head, creamy, retention and lace good. Really nice and full, malty character with very little if any hop bitterness. The nose is a little subdued unfortunately. Simple, well done, easy to drink. It really goes down so easy I don’t even notice it disappearing. Exactly what I needed.

Served from 0,33 L bottle. Clear, dark amber colored beer with off-white head. Heavy malty aroma recognizable yeast, less hops than expected. Flavor is light sweet followed by a moderate bitterness. Medium body with a normal to soft carbonation. Light astringent finish. Very balanced beer without edges, maybe too less edgy.

bottle from Heinrichs 3000 Kornwestheim. Deep orange golden with a small white head. Malty with grainy hints, a touch of roasted malts and a good and aromatic hoppy finish.

473ml can from LCBO. Thanks Audrée. Aroma: nuts, caramel and a bit of... vomit . App: clear red, huge beige head. Taste and palate: thin body, watery, soft carbonation, light sweetness, really really subtle bitter finish.. Overall: ouf, think it’s better to not say what I think of this beer and it’s smell. Dp

Nice malty Vienna lager with a malty flavor and nose... The hops Aroma and flavor tends to lose the point of doing lager... Not of fan of hoppy lagers.

Poured from can. Earthy aroma with some yest in there. Pours a clear amber with lots of white head. Very light bitter taste. Light body and thin texture. The look of this promises something different than a regular lager, but there isn’t much there different from most euro lagers.

DATE TASTED: August 13, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Sam Adams Boston lager... OCCASION: week seven at camp almost to an end... APPEARANCE: first, the head: thick, crunchy blanket of off-white retention that holds to a finger well after the pour; tracings are more like smears of clouds... dark amber body suggests a strong, substantial pint... for a lager, an appealing start... AROMA: thick malts that suggest syrup, nuts and bolder malt liquor of the 40 oz. variety ; the hops seem blanketed, as I do not detect the Saaz promised on the label; the Hallertau hints at rugged cone and varnish--an odd, challenging mix... PALATE: medium-bodied, smooth and warm at the throat; little to no action at the teeth; creamy throughout, which makes this almost match the allure of the appearance... TASTE: the muddled aroma proves true here, with some caramel and nut qualities to suggest a flavorful lager, and the hops do make a late appearance; not as robust as a Vienna can be, and the finish is a bit odd... OVERALL: thanks to Matt for the purchase this past week...my first Hop City offering is solid but uneven... drinkable, but not without the astringent, dry, band-aid ending...the second glass furthers the first in its dough and malt... I am hesitant to give this the blessing of another six-pack...
