Quiet white wine / Sauvignon Blanc / fruit cup aroma hops with slightly husky Pilsner malt crackers and biscuits and such. Brash carbonation, equally rough malt, notes of saccharine and rice cake, some dirty laundry soap off-notes and a lasting calcium carbonate residue in the mouth. Yeast seems to dirty this one up a bit, though overall itís very non-expressive so it doesnít suffer too much. Draft at the brewery in Riwaka.

[8354-20160524] Tap. Light grassy grains aroma hints at fruit. Slightly hazy, pale yellow orange body with medium-lasting foamy white head. Grassy hops and light toasted lemon grains flavour. Medium body. Good. (7/3/7/3/13) 3.3

Bottle from Malt Traders 120316. A nw Kiwi brewery that I havenít tried before and if this is the quality of all of their beers I will eagerly be searching them out. Crisp, clean and light in the mouth with hints of passionfruit and melon in the flavour.

330 ml bottle. Clear gold capped by a fluffy white head. Grass, lemon and white wine in the nose. Taste is soft fruit at first before a restrained lemony bitterness emerges along with a bit of grass and white bread. Clean finish with a lightly fruity aftertaste. Not bad at all.

Rating off memory. This is an ok beer. Pretty generic and somewhat mild hop aroma. Some creamy malt flavour with a subtle citrusy hop background. Decent body and quite quaffable. Nothing special, but it gets the job done.

To look at it, it does what it says on the tin: itís golden and has a pronounced flow of carbonation from the bottom of the glass in a constant stream to the top. This contributes to a stable white head. The aroma of grapefruit and lime is appealing along with some grape character. This is manifest in the flavour with tangy bitterness and Meyer lemon. yes, it is a light coloured beer, but it doesnít suffer from lack of flavour. This contradicts the usual perception that Golden Ales are the airheads of the beer world. Tasty stuff.

Good smell but thin taste. Pretty sure they can do better and I will try again to confirm.
