3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ElGaucho (1862) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - MAR 1, 2008
Draft at Major’s, Golden Valley, CA. Hey, with only 9 ratings I get to make it or break it! This brew was a pleasant surprise and I see getting a solid dose of anti-macro bias by my fellow Ratebeerians. Not much aroma but wonderful lacing and pretty good flavor. Doughy with a subtle hop finish. Reminds me a bit of both Rogue Dead Guy and Goose Island Honkers. Session Ale qualities. I still prefer Sam Adams to it and ordered a couple of those after having this one, but you could definitely do worse.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 nick76 (3591) - Tampa, Florida, USA - FEB 26, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 23, 2009 The aroma is wheat, yeast, hops, alcohol, and a touch of wild funkiness and citrus. Maybe some corn. The appearance is golden and amber with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is typical for the style but the finish is soapy. The beer was better than expected the second time I had it. I actually enjoyed it.
1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 heemer77 (4796) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - FEB 26, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 27, 2008 I am knocking the appearance an extra point because of the label which looks like it was designed by a 10 year old on crack, the beer tastes about as good. Hazy, medium gold body with a light khaki colored head. The aroma is ABC gum with some light, cheap lemon drops. The taste is like watered down Sprite with some weird rye chips in the finish. Highly carbonated. This gets more bitter and annoying as you drink more. Unlike A-B’s other stealth micro’s, this one is not bland, it’s just offensive. The beer is a bigger joke than the label.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 zombywoof (419) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - FEB 23, 2008
Mild wheat aroma. It has a light airy flavor-other raters mention banana and clove but I’m not picking that up at all. What I’m tasting is a kind of bready quality and cereal. A little thin with a crisp finish. It’s OK as far as it goes but I’ve had better wheats.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 scooterbub (546) - Lander, Wyoming, USA - FEB 23, 2008
Bottle. Pours an orange amber color and has an off white head that lasts for a while. Aroma is of wheat and malt. Has a pretty nice wheat taste to it. The beer also has a slight caramel and citrus taste. A pretty easy drinking beer as it is smooth and fairly crisp. A pretty good seasonal offering from A-B.

Pint - Pint’s & Quarts - Olympia, WA
Aroma – Nice wheat aroma, light hops.
Appearance – Amber color, hazy and a light head.
Flavor – Nice wheat flavor. Easy to drink. This was a decent attempt at a Hefe.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, smooth with a good finish.
Overall – Easy drinking Hefe. Not a huge beer. The strong Hefe flavor was not there.

On tap at the Petals Pool Bar at Disneys Pop Century Resort. Pours a hazy amber with golden notes and a medium creamy off white head that laced. Aroma was a caramel malt, some toasted notes, citrus along with some wheat/grains. Flavor of some light hints of banana and clove, caramel malt and wheat. Interesting concept and of course a very clean and crisp beer. But nothing special or that pushes any limits.

Sample bottle from the distributor. Tasted 2/8/2008. 12oz bottle. Hazy and sedimented with a golden orange hue. Clinging layer of white head. Lemon lime citrus with an orange note. Light to medium bodied with good effervescence. Cereal flavors. Crisp wheat and good toast. Mildly grainy. American sticky wheaty yeast. Citrus and off-dry. Mildly coating. Crisp yet dulled. Mild hop finish. I’ll concur, not too bad.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tytoanderso (1476) - SLP, Minnesota, USA - JAN 31, 2008
12oz sample bottle from my distributor. Hell, this beats the crap out of the Miller "craft" offerings I sampled before this one. Needless to say expectations were low. Toasted malt, soap, bananas, and bread dough on the nose. Pours cloudy copper with some fine yeast particles floating. Cheers for not filtering this one. Nothing special but inoffensive on the tongue. Creamy wheat, light tropical fruit notes and soap. Decent texture. Good carbonation. Not too bad from AB.

Given to me by my AB rep in a sample bottle. Pours amber with a medium white head. Aroma of grain, citrus, and a bit yeasty. Taste has a little ctrus to it and is somewhat in between an amber and a wheat. Has a soapy finish that sticks around a little bit.
